Or is it extremely quiet on the forum the last few days?
Pat

Its half term up here so the kids (sorry, contributers) could be away.

No it's not you Pat. It's just a funny time of year. Not much occuring as our seaweed eating neighbours would have it. It's not snowing yet but neither is it hot. Summer has been and gone, winter's not turned up yet. No one has fallen out with anyone for a day or two and there mustn't be any unrepeatable deals on wiper blades either to warm the cockles of the Aldi watchers !
I bought my annual 15 litres of Halfords concentrated screen wash yesterday for £11.98 ( buy 3 get one free ) Do it every year about this time and it more or less lasts until the following Autumn usually.
There see, screenwash deals, that might spark 'em up !
:-)
|
i could liven things up and tell you how in the next few days im going to sell ALL my older cars and just keep our c3 picasso and look for a useable classic luxo barge etc. if anyone is interested
|
Ooh yes please but do bear in mind that the answer will still be "Mondeo" in the end!!
:-)
|
>> There see, screenwash deals, that might spark 'em up !
what colour and what flavour
|
Classic green of course. None of this arriviste pink or blue stuff.
|
Its concentrated coloured smelly water. :-)
|
If its green its fairy liquid.
Very appropriate for a fashion buyer....
|
Does the filter allow "Get Stuffed" ?
Oh good !
:-)
|
Very windy here. Quite job wise too so been tidying up the workshop, fitting Ethernet ports and extra sockets (via a 13 amp FCU).
Want to try and organise all my tools so I know where everything is.
I think this time of year is a miserable time with only winter and the bitterness that brings to look forward to.
|
Well, I've done the rounds on confused/Tesco/MSE/Go compare sites today to renew the Mondeo insurance but the results are fuzzy yet because it's over 30 days until it runs out. One thing is clear it's gone up, up up:)
Also did the rounds for Breakdown cover but wanting the car, bike and caravan covered means that Gems renewal, at £90 just £3 up on last year will be accepted.
Now all I need is suggestions for mr pda's xmas present....:)
Pat
|
I think I am the only person in the world it has gone down for, £500 cheaper this year :). About half price.
Only £200 more than my dad pays for his worthless rust bucket although to him its worth far more than that.

What?
I'm talking gone up from £130 something for the CRV:(
Seems we're looking at around £190 fully comprehensive with wind screen cover.

I could let you have a bit of a deal on screenwash Pat if that's any good? Not sure how you'd wrap it mind.
|
Well I've spotted a perfect solid stone model of a Scania 113 Topliner in the form of a garden planter...and I want it gift wrapped!
It's about 2' high and 4' long.
Pat
|
You mean, you want it, and will buy it in the guise of being a present for the old man.
Good job you dont like dirty underwear....
|
No he'll buy it Z, it's £80, and he'll do as he's told:)
Pat
|
Get two of them Pat and stand them side by side as if in permanent elephant overtake mode halfway down the garden path blocking the way to the gate...
Should make you and Mr PDA feel all warm and fuzzy every time you see it...
:-))

That Humph, was spoken like a true company car driver.
I bet you have coat hangers hanging in the back with shirts and suits on them, laptop open on the passenger seat and a Dictaphone on the dash so you don't look like you're talking to yourself too.
I bet you park in the lorry park on the services so that we can 'admire' that Merc....don't you realise the only Merc's we like have more wheels than yours has cylinders?:)
Pat

>> I bet you park in the lorry park on the services
mind that high pressure derv pump Humph, it really shoots out of there, like a fire hose it is.,

I haven't worn a suit or tie or anything resembling that in 20 years Pat. With the notable exeption of some funerals and an occasional wedding. Not sure if I even still own a pair of trousers which are not denim. I know bankers and the like still dress like that but it clearly doesn't help them to be better at their jobs...
|
>>I haven't worn a suit or tie or anything resembling that in 20 years Pat.<<
But you've clearly lost your sense of humour:)
Pat

It was said TIC, I assumed you would realise that since I certainly did.

Yes indeed it was obvious. I/m still lost I'm afraid. I was just making coversation I thought. Crickey...

Bit quiet round these 'ere parts. Went out for the day yesterday in pal's 2CV with us wives.
Went, with other 2CVers, to Llangollen. Rip-off lunch in a pub then rip-off trip on a narrow boat over the Pont Thingy viaduct. Ten minutes to get to the barge from Llangollen then 2 flippin' hours to get back . I suggested we should have got the bus back...quicker and cheaper.
Car and barge combined gave me a sore bum !
Funnily enough, Pat, I arranged SWM's Chrimbo pressie today. We have an old print, Victorian, which she always liked. It's been in the loft for 30 yrs at least and she keeps asking me to find it so she can have a look. I snuck it out today and took it to be cleaned and re-framed with a new mount. I might get her some scent or soap or summat else as well.
Just got a couple of jobs booked in, a re-call on a Corsa and a service on a Prius, but, that apart, I'm having a quiet week.......hopefully.

That sounds lovely Ted but a word to the wise....it's not called scent anymore.
It's called perfume, and sounds so much more expensive:)
Women much prefer presents with a bit of thought behind them though than expensive trinkets.

PS: What about a Dash Cam for his lorry?
Do they work?
Do they stay put?
Do they get in the sweep of the wipers because if they do they are a big no, no for us. VOSA don't like them!
|
>> PS: What about a Dash Cam for his lorry?
>> Do they work?
Yes
>> Do they stay put?
yes with some velcro and sticky pads, but best fixed permanently due to vibration.
>> Do they get in the sweep of the wipers
Yes they have to, if the screen is unswept they might not see anything in the spray on the screen

I have an ex-BBC windscreen camera mount - If you source a camera and it fits this you can have it for the price of a stamp.
|
he hasn't weighed it again.
|
It'll post for around 3.00p I reckon...(after what seems a life time of e-baying)
|
Thanks PU.
He keeps coming home and saying he was 'cut up today' and 'you should have seen where I had to get into'.
I keep calling him a Great Jessie and a lightweight so I'd like to prove my point!
Pat

>> He keeps coming home and saying he was...
I saw two of their trucks separately on the M6 today. Neither was Mr PDA though.
>> is it extremely quiet on the forum... ?
I've not been online as much since I started the new job, as I can now afford to do all the urgent DIY jobs that keep me off the computer in the evenings! The early starts don't help either, I'm off to bed in 10 minutes :/
|
"Summer has been and gone, winter's not turned up yet."
Must be the season of mists and mellow fruitfulness. Now about the unnecessary use of fog lamps .......
|
All manner of lights on the front of the merc. Can't turn them off either. It decides for itself when to put them on. Not sure I like that. Some of them look like fairy lights. ( Don't bother Zero ! )

Its not just Zero, I am sure you have read our minds. :-)

Well for me, work is so busy just now that I was supposed to be off on holiday this week but had to cancel. Might get Thu or Fri off at the most.
Seems to be a lot of DIY jobs at night to be done and the tell tale sign for me is when I dip into this forum, I am now glancing over the thread titles to see what look interesting. When things are more chilled out, I tend to read every thread!
