Well I never.
We're going to have a mini ice age due to the sun..
www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-15199065
Not a mention of manmade global warming..
Tidal power will be great when the sea is frozen and windmills are not very good on long cold winter nights at -20C..
Change the UK's taxation so gas guzzlers pay less RFL so more CO2 is emiited to offset the cooling effect. Lobby you MP now.. (Mine's a Lexus LS430)

Third para of linked report says:
The researchers emphasise there is no impact on global warming
|
|
Save your breath, Bromp. There are too many people here who don't do nuance.
|
Before you get too excited i would point out that you don't seem to have actually read the article:
Para 4 states:
"The researchers emphasise there is no impact on global warming."
This is because as far as the overall temperatures world wide are concerned recent cold winters in the UK and Northern Europe have been offset by warmer winters in the Mediterranean and elsewhere.
Global temperatures continue to rise.
Sorry
|
May I remind you all our own Met Office was forecasting warmer winters for the UK.. and some forecasters were saying we would see no more snow.
Oh One of the Researchers works for the Met Office... Well what a surprise.. of course there is no impact on the world. Silly me for even doubting it..

Loads of berries on the trees and shrubs that bear them, swallows migrated weeks early - it is going be a cold winter, for my money. There isdno global warming - it is climate change so the experts can be right whichever way it goes!
|
What we're going to have is experts getting paid handsomely to tell us what those who are doing very nicely out of the climate change industry want us to hear, and an army of propaganda peddlers and spinners endorsing the view of the day to suit.
The tax payer will as usual foot the bills.
|
Cant pooh-pooh Global Warming!! - too many Governments have invested too much due to the taxes they can squeeze!
In a parody of Orwell: global warming good - climate change bad!
|

I said that last year and was laughed at. Cold weather's good for my job, animals need more concentrated feeds so I'm busy.

Bring it on. I now drive one of the most hopeless snow cars if the 5 of them abandoned on the 1 in 30 odd slope at the end of our road last year is any indication ;-)

Great crop of holly, pyracantha and mountain ash berries her.

I had to water my summer hanging baskets again yesterday and they are still blooming like mad. The Fuchsias are magnificent!
The winter ones are hanging in the greenhouse waiting to replace them, itching to get out there.

>>Climate change is due to sun
"It was the Sun wot did it" to paraphrase a famous headline.

i harvested 1kg of strawberries from the garden yesterday and were ripe and very tasty.
ive never had stawbeeries this late before
|
|
We had such a wet and cold summer I had no strawberries that were edible: the slugs and birds ate those....

Interesting how different parts of the country varied. Here in Northants, after an early burst in late spring the summer was cool and dry. Both strawberries and raspberries did well but the new potatoes were very poor. The front grass went weeks without growing/mowing.
The part of the garden not covered by the watering system suffered a number of casulaties including the Clematis Montana.

Almost mid November and I've just taken the summer hanging baskets down today.
I would have left them another week but we're away next weekend and the forecast is for it being colder.
Wooden garden furniture is all put away in the dry for the winter and the greenhouse is lined with bubble wrap and a nice electric heater is installed.
Mrpda cut the lawn for the last time...as we keep saying, and Mr Mole has kept his side of the bargain and been good during the summer, so he's now back for the winter!
Harry Hedgehog is having a sachet of cat food each night to build up enough reserves to hibernate and of course, despite Eons demands, the three pumps in the pond will be left on all winter to give the birds somewhere to bathe and get water when everywhere is frozen.
Cat bed (for strays) installed in the shed which has a cat flap for them, and dried food and water provided.
Fish still eating well, so off to stock up with bird seed, fat balls and peanuts tomorrow:)
What a lovely day for November to be able to enjoy it in the garden.

I've only tried those fat balls once, Pat......great idea, stuff one full of laxatives and toss it over the fence for next door's yapping dog to enjoy.

What a fantastic idea :) I can think of several people with yappy and annoying dogs around that would benefit.
Next step would be to be really cheeky and push one through their letterbox ;)

And probably kill someone's pet into the bargain...

Push through the letterbox? Some strange people on here!

In this world there are animal lovers.........and other people.
I feel sorry for the other people, they miss so much.

I view animals in the same way as neighbours.
You may or may not like them, but you need to co-exist peacefully.
Take cats.
Wouldn't have one myself, but wouldn't criticise anyone who does.
Next door has one, which is fine.
Their cat sometimes climbs on the CC3, leaving sticky paw marks and (more) fine scratches.
That is not fine.

Just been out with the dogs - couldn't believe how mild it was here 13 degrees according to my Lidl weather station - feels warmer than that. Who'd have thought eh ?
|
Just been out for my morning rehab hobble.
Same here, weatherwise.
|
|
I've just scarfed my bacon eggs, toast & marmalade: life is hard, innit?
|
|
Just woken up again - looks like it's going to be two dog winter, all three of us had our morning nap/catch up ! Archers now then the Whitehall (HD of course) Stunningly beautiful day here, normally a trip out on the bike sort of day, but my wife been working lates so its puppy supervision time.
|
Just saw the BBC weather forecast on the Andrew Marr show. 17C in Anglesey today. Best get those tyres changed again...
Whistles and strolls off to cut grass....
|
|
Damn it. Apparently going to turn cold for the weekend ! One side effect is that twice I've been asked in various car-parks to explain the lack of alloys !

I thought it looked like you had four spacesavers on.
A bored cop might think it worth a tug.

They'll have to catch me first iffy !

...They'll have to catch me first iffy!...
Definitely worth a tug if you do that.
Go on, give us all something to watch on Motorway Cops. :)

Lidl weather station says its 12.5c here. Bright bright sun. Going to timeshift the GP back, and Nicole, Fifi and I are off into the Surrey Hills. (they Dont know it yet but we are scouting out a likely looking spot on the north downs railway line - I am pre planning snow scenes! (an pot of tea and some scones at a nice little tea shop I know should provide sufficient amnesia for the train revelation!))

|
Dog management duties for me today - going to see Charley Boorman tonight with a buddy.
|
|
Pristine in Whitehall today - excellent in HD as well.
|
Lovely day here in Arcadia. Got up late, missed most of the argumentative lot that are ' the Archers. ' Thank the Lord !
Two cups of Grumpy Mule coffee.....weeny brekkie, 2 digestive, 'cos we were going out for lunch/dinner. Went to the March Hare in Cheadle Hulme and had a monster mixed grill.
Coffee at daughter's nearby and home for a nap.

Glorious in Northants too. Out this morning for the remembrance day parade and out in the garden giving the lawn it's third last cut of the year.
It had better be this time, i've cleaned the mower up and put it right away at the back of he garage.

Neither is digging up the bulbs in the front bed and replacing them with poo. But the real hanging offence is coming in my garden and dismembering song birds.

...But the real hanging offence...
You could drain some coolant from the Xantia and leave a pool on the drive.
By mistake, of course.

What a good kind person you are pda!
|
|
Did they fit particle filters to the rear ends of horses during the Mediieval Warm period (950 to 1250 AD)?
|
Oriental poppies flowering in back garden.
Bees ain't fooled.. too cold and damp for them to venture out except for toilet flights...
|
I'm not so kind to the sleepy flies we seem to have this year Meldrew!
Has anyone else got them?
There was a busy bumblebee around yesterday in the borders and the grey squirrel was running round the top of the garden fence, so Ginger only got one of them!
Pat

Seen one large (slow fly) this past week. We have also seen a lot of ladybirds outside the house. I can only assume the latter think it's spring already and have come out of hibernation which is bad news for them. One or two plants in the garden have flowered too.
|
|
yeah - I had a ladybird trying to bite lumps out of me in the car the other day.
|
|
I misread that as ladyboy - I need to de-tox.
|
>> I misread that as ladyboy - I need to de-tox.
More than one mucky pup in your place it seems! ;-0
|
While you lot were out having perfect days yesterday, I was clearing up multitudes of leaves,
I would leave em, but when Mutley empties his bowels, I can't blimming tell the difference :(
Anyway - I'm sure I saw some green shoots coming out on some of my bushes/hedges etc..
|
|
Have you been smoking pot again Dog.;)
|
I'm sure I saw some green shoots
that'll be the economic recovery
|
|
He only saw dead weeds then.
|
>> My hopes dashed.
Good, there is no place for hope, positive thinking, faith or optimism on this site!
|
|
Adder nother look today - definitely green shoots, the coming ice age will put paid to that idea though.
