Mark Cavendish, World Professional Road Cycling champion!
Well done that man, and the British team who controlled the race for him.

Indeed - some ride by all involved. Those nancy-ballers that need 6 weeks off after they stub a toe should take a note out of Wiggins book who rode flat out on the front for 10km+ yesterday - after having done his fair share over the previous 5 hours - and only about 8 weeks after he had to be scraped off a French road and have his collar bone bolted back together. Bonkers!

All forms of competitive cycling are hugely strenuous, but incredibly boring to watch.
How people can stand by the roadside, as in road races, to watch a gaggle of Lycra clad bottoms disappear into the distance, is beyond my comprehension!

You have to know how to read a race, Roger. It's a highly tactical sport.

One of the greatest pleasures of retirement has been the ability to see the full grand tours on television.
