Having watched the clip and being impressed at how easy it is to be Keith Richards I asked my guitar-playing son about open G tuning. I then got a long lecture about the pros and cons of open G, open C, dropped D...

I was going to add something about us clarinettists not sinking to such depths. But in fact that's not quite true - for orchestral work, where the key signatures tend to favour the strings, you often play a clarinet in A rather than the usual Bb. So never mind adjusting the tuning, it's a different instrument!
