Swapped out the garden tap by unscrewing the old one and replacing with a Screwfix special.
It fixed the original problem but the new tap when fully screwed in is now about 45 degrees off vertical, looks stupid.
Is the only way to fix it to swap out the bit it screws into as well, having aligned it properly first?

You could try wrapping 20-30 turns of PTFE tape around the thread to pack it out a bit.

I'd just get a pair of mole grips on it, with a scaffold pole on the end and jump on it until it went round as far as it should do.
Job done:)

Same on mine - The PTFE tape method worked fine for me.

Had the same thing myself. Luckily my engineer/general clever clogs/mr practical good old dad came round and tapped the screw thread a little further in on the pipe and it was sorted!
(Unfortunately said dad is not available to help others!)

PTFE did the trick, thanks!

I could get my neighbour to sort it, he is good with outside taps..... :)
