Does anybody know of a ‘Eurocamp’ style park near La Rochelle in France? We have stayed at a couple of Eurocamp sites and have been pleased with the facilities they offer for small children. We would like to go to La Rochelle next year but cannot find a site. We go with other families so will need 5 static homes (no tents please) and a good swimming pool. Close location to a sandy beach is also a necessity. We’d even consider a private home if it could house everyone and it had a private pool and was near a beach.
If we can’t find one, it looks like we’ll either be going to Carnac or Benedot again.

Ok I had two years at a Haven site 50km south of La Rochelle - a place called Les Mathes, near the seaside town of La Palmyre.

Anyway, perfect part of the French coast, miles and miles of empty beach, lovely old seaside towns along the coast down to Royan.
Took an 8 year old boy there, and he wanted to go back so it cant be bad.

Stayed at a Yelloh village in Bordeaux this summer - would happily go again. Excellent indoor and outdoor swimming pools kept an energetic 3 year old occupied for 3 weeks.
French owned and staffed, but with a large proportion of German and Dutch guests, all of them quiet and neighbourly. All staff had good English, and many with German too. They offer a range of accomodation from tent pitches through various layouts of mobile home to unusual stuff such as yurts or treehouses.
The closest to La Rochelle is Camping Le Littoral at Le Sables D'Olonne. Have a look at www.yellohvillage.co.uk.
Also, worth noting accomodation was cheaper for 3 weeks booked directly with Yelloh with ferry from Cork (Brittany Ferries) booked separately than booking a 'discounted' package through Brittany Ferries.
