I need to call a customer service helpline and the phone number starts 00800 - The blurb says it is a freephone number - I've come across 0800, but never 00800, and I can't find any reference on either BT or Ofcom sites.
I've tried googling the whole number - 00800 880 80 80 8 and it doesn't come back with any sensible info.
I'm going to have to ring from work, they might kick up a stink if they get a silly bill. Anybody come across them before ?

I thought 00 means it is an international number and will be charged accordingly.

Interestingly, there is no country whose dialing code is 80.

Aaah, thats sort of dissapointing, as the address at the side of the number is in Oxfordshire.
I have an issue with the product, which I've googled, and on the only relevant post I can find, the poster talks about language difficulties. Ah well, I'll just have to give it a try next week

When I worked at a Mercedes dealer, the Merc dedicated breakdown phone number was 00800 1 777 7777. The call centre was in the Dutch city of Maastricht and the call was free of charge from the UK.

I once dealt with a Dutch call centre with regard to a £5.99 Silvercrest four port USB hub I bought at Lidl; it had gone faulty after about 18 months and I was surprised to find it had a three year warranty.

So I rang the number and spoke to a very pleasant young man whose English was excellent (the Dutch are noted for it); he checked out the serial number and purchase date and arranged for a replacement to be despatched. It arrived three days later having been sent from Germany.

How fluffy and nice for you. But can you confirm a free International call? 00800? Otherwise a nice result for you.

As far as I recall yes, it was a free number. I've no doubt still got the guarantee but, being fluffy and nice, I CBA to have a look...:-))
