It's not all bad news - BobbyG
In view of everything else thats happening in the country I feel it is time to put out some good news.

So well done to the Celtic & Manchester United legends and celebs who turned up at Celtic Park tonight for a charity game. The proceeds of the game were to be split between Oxfam for their African appeal, and ex Celtic player John Kennedy whose career was ended with a series of knee injuries.

John Kennedy then made the remarkable gesture of deciding to give all his proceeds to the Oxfam appeal as well. This from a footballer, probably still in his 20s, who has not made huge amounts of money from the game. A true Gentleman.

Also, well done to the 54,000 supporters who turned up on the night and to all those who donated via the Text line as well.

A great night.

Some (but few) footballers give their testimonial money to charity. Sadly it is few of them.

ISTR that Niall Quinn gave the proceeds of his retirement testimonial natch to charity and it was over £1 million. It went to UK and African charities

Ditto Jamie Carragher (who plays for Liverpool).
