Been to one at Burghley, great fun, dont forget to take your brace of labradors.

Best stall was the venison burgers!

Funniest thing is the real country gents who turn up in rusty orange coloured tweed plus fours.

Visit Hardwick Hall a National Trust property.
Really insightful how the rich lived in Elizabethan times.
We've been 3 times recently, including the working water mill, part of the estate, great experience, IMO.

We're going on Sunday and I'm trying to borrow a couple of feisty Springers ;-)

A great day out and plenty for the kids, even if you aren't a country sports fan.

Dragonfly safari at Wicken Fen, Sunday. Be there or be L 7, as we used to say.

I released what I think was a young dragonfly which was caught in a spider's web outside the caravan.

Spidey won't starve, he doesn't eat half of what he catches.

Did a bit of fettling my kit in the new Vitara this morning. Found that my little trolley jack and a smaller toolbox would go nicely under the driver's seat, leaving the ' boot ' free

Spent the rest of the day dipping into the web, napping or sitting in the Sun with me MP3 on.
Enjoyed a bottle of home brew, which I'd made over a year ago and forgotten about. Got about 10 litres so it's about time it was cleared to make room.

Sunday...Have a look at the paper over brekkie, visit new Grandson for another look,
check me tomatos when we get back and then see what transpires for the rest of the day. Was to have my cataract done on Wednesday but got a letter postponing it for 2 weeks.....left me feeling a bit down, I really want it done.

Tomorrow (After its finished) it will be the German F1 GP. Could be an interesting start - Webber has had some poor starts so Hamilton has a chance to jump him at the start.

The tomato plant reference above reminds me I need to sort out those too. They need sticks to support them.

And something I should sort for fuel saving reasons - I don't half have a load of junk in the boot! Should sort it instead of transferring to the boot of the next car which is bigger. But not as accessible (saloon vs. hatchback).

Anyone know a good way to convince a lease company and employer to terminate a car lease early BTW? My new car might be available soon.... current car has the following problems and/or jobs to do:

- Two new front tyres fairly soon
- Gearbox/syncro/clutch problems - had a problem with clutch pedal a few years ago and it seemed to resolve itself. Did get checked out. Had the transmission fluid changed and the clutch bled already
- MOT
- Tax

Yes - I found a bus quite useful.

Going to see if I can get the dog to run with the bikes today. He's OK now running with us off the lead when we're on foot and in a suitable place. However, if he craps on a bike trail I'll clear it up ! Knobbly tyres, a bit of velocity and dog poo combined with lack of mudguards can really put the serious mockers on a mountain biker's day !

Won't go too far, he's only a pup.

:-)

Dont overwork him Humph, pups joints are still forming.

Throw him in a pond tho, they need to learnt to swim at an early age.

No don't worry Z, I won't. just a training excercise. Mile or two at most. A squillion years ago ( well about 40 ) I trained my dog to jog kerbside of my bike. The technique I used then was to tie a garden cane onto the left side of my handlebars to form about a 2' extension. I then tied a piece of string to the end of that and dangled his favourite toy on the end at just about his head height. At first it was a game of "chase the toy". Eventually he got the idea that he had to stay on that side beside the bike. Of course in those days it was PC to reward him with bits of my cheese sandwiches from my packed lunch ! In the end we used to cycle as a bunch of kids and dogs all the way from Edinburgh down the coast road to North Berwick to play on the beach. 25 miles each way. Of course traffic was much lighter then.

No, today I'm going to take Leo to a quiet area of a local forest where I know there won't be many, if any, other people. Pockets full of dog treats and mind set to patience mode. We'll just take it really easy and go for no more than a half hour or so. He'll more than likely want to mix it with the bike so walking pace only today. He'll soon get the idea that pedals are hard !

You can get tracers to fix to bikes now Humph. Metal bar fixed to saddle post, clip a long tracer lead to the bar.

There is a guy near me has a pair of huskies (actually they look like husky/malamute cross but i digress). He has a a bar fixed across his handlebars, and they tow him down the local canal footpath at a right rate of knots.

I would love to have a team and a wheeled sled. Great sport.

Well funnily enough, near us there is quite an active scene for that at Delamere forest. If there's been snow thety even use "real" sleds.

Dont get this sport confused with "dogging" tho Humph.

Yeah, that's the sort of thing. Looks like fun. I once followed a husky race through Kielder forest in the snow in..um...my Westfield...that was hilarious !
