I've always had a great interest in Edith and her life.
I have several CDs.
Always a semi-tragic figure, her funeral was one of the biggest ever seen in France.
She rest in a well tended grave in Pere Lachaise....which I have visited.

A short profile and biography here....for the youngsters.

She was dangerous to be around, many of her husbands and lovers died or were killed in crashes. Her final husband and toyboy, Theo Sarapo, managed to outlive her but was killed when his sportscar crashed some time later.

I'm very fond of this type of music.
If anyone wants to listen to more, I recommend a double CD issued by Gallerie which I have.
It has 44 tracks of different artists including Piaf, Trenet, Mistinguet, Jo Baker, Chevalierand many lesser known singers.

Here's one of them...Tino Rossi, with a jolly piece...

The album is called ' A Portrait of French Cafe Songs '

Mmmm - my mates who are ex Legion love it.
The Little sparrow movie was superb.

Also featured in that movie with te pig - Babe - with the three mice giving it large.

British Legion was the immediate deduction from that Ian, closely followed by a mental image.... Clearly not ! :-)

Arrived the other day - loaded it onto the Brenan just now - have to wait for my wife to be absent to enjoy it. Not a fan.

I have two CDs of Piaf but I find I have to be in the right mood to listen to them. I love listening to Josephine Baker and Tino Rossi too.
