IMHO: James Naughtie, especially the Hunt incident
Kirsty Young.

Broadening it a bit to film and stage, Michael Gambon has a lovely voice, IMO.

He does indeed, dashed funny fellow too. I can never forget his appearance on Top Gear when he was telling JC that he enjoys winding up journalists. He said he was telling one journalist that he used to be a homosexual but was forced to give it up. "Why?" asked the incredulous scribe. "'Cos it made my eyes water." replied Sir Michael. Priceless!

Another voice I could listen to all day is that of Stephen Fry - he could read the phone book out and make it seem interesting.

Fenella Fudge (Radio 2 newsreader) has a very sensuous voice. There's many a time I get lost in my own little world when she's on...!

Yes, Gambon is very good value. A serious operator, but who doesn't take himself too seriously.

Re Stephen Fry, I really do want to like his voice, but I find it irritating. Maybe too much of a good thing, IMO.

Aasmah Mir. Wonderful laugh, too.

The sexiest, nicest voice I've heard on this planet, since leaving the Pleiades in 1952, is Joanna Twist,

Who? I hear you ask! well, she is a presenter on bbc radio Cornwall ~ en-gb.facebook.com/joanna.twist

Annabel Croft ...

George Alagiah off BBC news - he sounds sincere. Gordon Burns off NW Tonight; he sounds like a friendly old chap. Darren Reddick off Planet Rock radio - the only nice American accent I've heard.

>> Gordon Burns off NW Tonight

He erstwhile of "The Krypton Factor"?

The very same.

Not a presenter, but Christopher Lee.
Which presenter has the nicest voice? - Jetski
Derek Cooper who did the voice over on Tomorrow's World and The Food Programme on Radio 4.

The delightful Carol Kirkwood (cor!) - gently Scottish, but a real star, deserving of more than the weather forecasting job.

Tony Blackburn

The carphound and big war criminal Henry Kissinger. Sounds like a Viennese frog on his deathbed. Strangely charming delivery for such a charmless individual.

I find 5Live drive time's Peter Allen quite soothing but the late Brian Redhead will not be surpassed.
Which presenter has the nicest voice? - WillDeBeest
Or how about another former Today presenter, of whom Redhead disapproved on grounds of sex? Sumo Gregor - as she always scrupulously avoided saying.

...but the late Brian Redhead will not be surpassed...

I met Brian Redhead many years ago in London.

For some reason, Selina Scott came up in the conversation.

"I know Selina," said Brian. "Selina is a prat."

Lisa Burke, Sky and Five weather presenter.

Lovely soft voice, helped by a truly beautiful Irish lilt.

And if I'm being totally shallow (and honest), I find her equally pleasing on a visual level

Just lovely.

There's a few lasses on the telly who have voices well worth watching.

It's rare to find both though. And surprisingly, I actually noticed the voice first with this one (TV on in the next room). :-)

Check out Sky Sports News - it's not just for sports fans.

Mrs B and I, who have considerable combined experience of the issue, were both convinced that Redhead suffered from bi-polar disorder. It's not uncommon for those so afflicted to succeed in the arts.

It's taken me some time to think about this thread.

Fiona Bruce and Julia Bradbury could sound like Lee Marvin for all I care......phwoooor to both !

The presenter I really get the hots for has a lovely voice, a bit on the posh side, intelligence, looks, figure, personality and humour.......Victoria Coren....Double phwooor with extras.

Robert Peston. He speaks clearly and concisely, doesn't mumble, and doesn't gabble.

Fern Britton makes a lovely change when standing in for Jeremy Whine on Radio 2. A slightly posh, soft voice.

Loved John Peel , especially in his later days when his voice became deeper and more resonant - coupled with that dry deadpan humour, just perfect.

Wogans gentle lilt is still pleasing, but the most soothing voice came from the late Ray Moore, early morning presenter Radio 2.

His rich voice and pleasant manner presented Come Dancing, Eurovision and Miss World in the eighties.

I liked listening to John Dunne on Radio 2, when I was little.

I was watching Dr Alice Roberts on the box earlier...Mmmmmmmmm !

She did a swim in a Lakeland tarn with her kit off........no decent ( or indecent ) shots though.

Lordy, I'm becoming a dirty old man !

Peter Day. His business programmes are a must-hear for me. He has the ability to talk to business leaders in their own terms while providing a simultaneous translation for listeners unfamiliar with building on best practice going forward. All in a voice that's distinctive but instantly intelligible.

Agree on Peter Day. I get the podcasts. I visualise him as a sort of MBA tutor!

Apparently the podcast is the most downloaded BBC one. goo.gl/odHcM

Brian Matthew. Always look forward to a long drive between 8 and 10 on a Saturday morning! He's 82. I hope they just recycle the programmes when he retires.

Been up all night searching, Tony....I'll keep trying.

Oh, why didn't I put the box onto record ?
