Not moved on form the middle ages really. Then animals were frequently tried and executed.
In 1386 a pig accused of murdering an infant was tried and convicted by a court in Falaise, France. The pig was hanged at the gallows by the village hangman. Her six piglets were charged with being accessories to the crime but were acquitted "on account of their youth and their mother's bad example".
Doubt whether the pigs would get such a fair trial from the Rabbi these days though

Stories like this make me realise just how lucky I am to live in the UK. Yes the media like to make out we live in an uncivilised hell hole knowing personally somebody who has been trapped in the Libya conflict some of the backward and middle age type things which have gone on there is worse than even some of the media has suggested. The story I was told is that the soldiers are given Viagra so they go round raping women. If that is true it is disgusting and I cannot object to those refugees seeking asylum in this country.
We live in a truly great country and we must not forget that, no matter how bad times may be. London is still one of the major capitals of the world and while it remains so the UK will remain a major country, even though the Daily Hate Mail like us to believe we are now poorer than Nigeria and have an NHS run by Worsco PLC (made up name!) and Prisons run by Biggs and Kray PLC.

We didn't really give them nuclear weapons, although we did assist them with their plants. They actually managed to build the weapons themselves, albeit probably after stealing technology.
That was 40 years ago, and the Iranians (even with help from North Korea and Russia) haven't even managed it yet. Very resourceful them Israelis.
Also, it's not as if this sentence was handed down by the Israeli government, or some high court. It was just some idiot religious zealot in some local idiotic religious court. Once the authorities were called it was stopped, and the idiot wouldn't even admit to having passed the sentence.
Lots of idiots in the UK do stupid stuff, until the authorities are called.
On the other hand, the authorities in Iran hang children and gays. Perhaps they would have a more productive nuclear weapons program if they weren't too busy hanging kids.

What makes a great country? I dont know I like that song when a child is born it has no concept what colour skin its in.I don't know what it has to do with this,just thinking about it.

I used to pinch my old man siggies when I was 12.Senior Service.Progressed to Van Nelle black tobacco to strong.Ended up Samson or Drum.I chucked it at 27.
I've done the dog end bit god knows how my longs survived.:)
