I seem to remember from my 'D&T' lessons tha blue hacksaw blades are used to cut metal and red ones to cut wood.
When I went to buy some from Wickes they only had black ones and the spotty teenager who I spoke to hadn't come across anything different.
Is there just a standard black hacksaw blade now?

There are two tooth spacings for a start, fine and coarse.
Then there are cheap nasty ones that shatter after two strokes, and good quality ones that seem to last for ever. I've no idea how you tell them apart other than by price.
I've gone off hacksaws since discovering angle-grinders.

I prefer the red ones, they colour co-ordinate so nicely with my Snap-on cabinet and new Clarke racking.
I've only got blue ones., however !
