Absolutely brilliant and very British.

Strangely personable young fellow. The dialect is charming too.

He's got to keep the teeth if he ever makes it big though. A visit, or rather about 50 visits at ten grand a pop, to the Osmonds' dentist (an unsung hero of the pop world well worthy of an honorary knighthood) would ruin his appearance.

His key board skills betray a hidden sub-text though

Don't think I didn't notice PU (although I am no judge of such things).

As one of the people on his facebook page said.

He plays the piano like a demented lamb after a day lost in the sheep dip.

He could eat an apple through a tennis racket. ;o) If they teeth are for real.

I knew a dentist who made himself a few pairs of funny/comical false teeth which he used to wear in nightclubs. He had a totally different comic character that went with them too.

I've just watched the "Black and Cold" video... Not sure if it's genius, or lunacy. Think I'll settle for genius :)

Very funny love it had a good laugh.

Thinking about comedians Spike Milligan was my favorite.

The teeth are very similar to the false ones I mentioned above. Very funny. Watched a bit more just now.

He's funnier than that irritating Harry Hill too. But that's easy.
Remember you heard it here first (well mebbe) - Dutchie
Harry Hill I don't know about him he is irritating isn't he.

Tommie Cooper another one of my favorites they reckoned he used to drink a bottle of whiskey before he went on stage great caracter.

>> that irritating Harry Hill

I like Harry Hill. The irritating clownish dress and manner are the sugar coating on a sharp intelligence and often biting irony. But I agree he's not everyone's cup of tea.

That other chap, the good news chap who is gay: he started off well and has been made to broaden and coarsen his act I notice. The same pressures are probably acting on Hill and everyone else in that game.

He is bright thats true, comedie is one of the most diificult act to perform in my opinion.

Kenn Dodd is one of those comedians getting on now you either take to him or not.I always liked his comedy style a natural. What about that little bloke I forgot his name now ex boxer he is always sweating like a pig a bit forced comedy in my opinion.

Lee Evans. I saw him at Cambridge Corn Exchange about 15 years ago - he was hilarious.

>> That other chap, the good news chap who is gay:

Is he? He never mentions it in his act/on the panel shows. How refreshing. A song and dance is usually made of such matters which I find terminally boring. I couldn't care less who fancies who.

Russell Howard? No.

>> I couldn't care less who fancies who.

My eldest daughter is mad about him. He has a girlfriend called Cerys IIRC.

Ah. That'll be why he never mentions it, then. :-)

Perhaps it's just wishful thinking on AC's part. ;-)

I thought I did hear him mention it once actually. But I'm quite content to be wrong. One sometimes is after all.

Anyway: Russell Howard has broadened and coarsened his act, a step in the wrong direction if you ask me.

Having an interest in antiques doesn't make you gay, but it might make you buy curios.

Lee Evans, another one who used to be funny until he started using the F word in almost every sentence.

The most disappointing re-invention of himself was the brilliant Dave Allen who when he emerged again had blued his act, real comedians never need to use foul language.

Dave Allen, certainly a great comedian always used swear words liberally in his act. I saw him live in the late seventies and his act was superb but blue by anyone's standards. His early TV series were a very cleaned up version of his act. The last series for which he was criticised by some for his bad language was pretty mild compared with his stage act.

Most comedians are much more earthy in live shows than on TV. Live you can get a feeling of how far an audience can go, on TV you never can.

Dave Allen was always very blue live, and the live "Thoughts of Chairman Alf" showed just how far Warren Mitchell could darken the character.

The best I have seen was Jim Bowen doing a live show with his thoughts and experiences of the show "Bulls eye". I laughed so much it physically hurt.

I wonder if it was the same event i attended, must be 20 years ago, Jim Bowen hosted IIRC a charity event at The Palladium? sponsored by The Sun? featuring many talents, as you say his recollections and anecdotes had the house rolling in the aisles.

Question marks as i'm going by my appalling memory here.

It sounds about right time scale, and it was in London. Did he do the drunken Irish contestants?

I saw Jason Manford live recently. Not a swear word to be heard. He was hilarious. Even for a Manc.

At least he keeps it clean on-stage then :)

(I like him from what I've seen of him too - he was good on The One Show before he had to leave.)

As you would expect, he was quite self deprecating about that on stage. I got to say hello to him afterwards as we sat in the Thai 9 restaurant outside the Hexagon at the table next to him. He doesn't drink either, just has a glass of coke (a-cola) with his post gig meal. No gang of hangers on, just his tour manager and a mate it looked like. Very down to earth guy and quite humble. Nice bloke.
