Anybody know what different sizes the push-fit connectors come in for airlines to attach to a compressor?

Depends on the size of the compressor! How long is a bit of string?

Are you talking about a compressor for pumping up car tyres , for digging up the road or what ?

Try these people www.guyson.co.uk/hansen/index2_5.html

They seem to specialise in couplings.

The ones shown on Ebay : 120721063346

are the most common size on DIY compressors and air lines.

PCL is the standard as found in most garages.

1/4 bsp thread in the air gun/air line etc.

Machine mart sell these as does e bay etc.

The item has a 1/4 BSP female screw fitting, that's easy. The compressor (2HP domestic thing like a red fire extinguisher on its side) comes with some pipe with a chunky female push-fit fitting on it that I'd guess is a bit bigger. I need to attach push fit to screw fitting, but need to know the size. HSS, Halfords, B&Q and my local builders merchant not helping.

I bought my compressor from Machine Mart.

They had stock of pipes and fittings, so worth a look if there's one near you.

I don't think the bits you are after are listed on the website, but might be in the shop.

Sorry, I couldn't help misreading the thread title.

I started thinking plastic cutlery, luggage racks, sick bags. :)

I've found two types of fittings:

The older and original PCL fittings of which Machine Mart had plenty and what appear to be a smaller type fitting which seems to be the standard for the newer cheaper small compressors and attachments to which Machine Mart shrugged their shoulders when I tried to source them. B&Q did have a few though.

The good source of info on the different airline connectors is: www.pclairtechnology.com/Products?ProductId=30 .

Most of the cheap DIY/home compressors seem to use XF Couplers/Adaptors.

Go to Pirtek or a hydraulic company that will also sell air fittings they should match them up for you.

If you swapped to PCL you can get this anywhere as most garages use this.

I junked the standard coil type hose on my Machine Mart compressor, and fitted "garage" type reinforced rubber hose and PCL fittings; not too expensive and far more robust, plus you can repair the hose with a double male union and two jubilee clips if it splits. Available at any good motor factors.
