My dear old Mum is still using an old Panasonic she was given, despite it rusting nicely inside!
She has increasing trouble bending down into her oven to grill things, and does not get on at all with the 'lean, mean grilling machine' I bought her.
Therefore I shall buy her a small microwave with built in grill. I did look at Miele (we have one of their fantastic washing machines which never cools down...3 women in da house)but almost fell over when I saw their prices.
Any recommendations please.

Will dear old mum be able/willing to operate a combined device?
My endearing mother will not entertain push button gadgets in the kitchen, which is fair enough.
I might not want to be bothered with learning something new at her age.
My microwave combi is simple enough to operate as a microwave, but not very user friendly if you want to bring in the grill.

I have recently bought another Tesco one. It seems OK.
( The light bulb failed on the previous relatively new Tesco one and SWBO was not happy but the cost of a retest condemned it.)

Check that Mums favourite plate fits on the turntable. Take the plate to the shop and try it out. Do not trust published dimensions.
In my experience microwave ovens seem to have got smaller and smaller.
We finished up with a combined grill job just cos it was the internal size we wanted.
We have never used the grill feature ( except by accident thus causing SWMBO to panic)

Halogen oven - cheap and it cooks pastry without it going soggy - cheap as chips @ under £50.

Many of the brand name microwaves (De Longhui, CookWorks etc) sold by Argos and similar outlets are the same models rebadged (Tesco also rebadges them under its own name).
I have a combi De Longhui and, in more than two years, have never had cause to use the grille feature.

We bought, in LIDL, Spain, a microwave and a small fan oven (with grill) for under 100€ for the two.
The microwave is in daily use, as will the oven be, most of next week, when our new kitchen is being fitted.
