Since it got warm on Sunday we seem to be inundated with flies. Maybe there are only 8 or 10, maybe more, but they are really irritating. I have some old (5+ years) spray which doesn't seem to kill them, just slows them down for a while.
Funnily enough neighbours (not immediate) who I drink with mentioned it before I did on Sunday night.
Nothing has died in my house, the cat hasn't taken a dump inside and we are observing the usual hygiene etc standards.
What's the best way to get rid of them?

I bet you bought the cheapest fly killer spray you could find. Get some Raid Fly and Wasp Killer ~ manufactured by S C Johnson.

Fly paper is pretty effective, though a bit unsightly if you leave it up for too long.

I had to implement a no fly zone in the attic of my old place - bought a very effective cartridge type chemical thing from the local DIY shop (note note shed) - Rentokil make - £5.99 - lift the lid and it radiates more poison than a Toshiba reactor. Somewhat more successful than the NATO version.

A bucket of dog poo in the kitchen should keep them out of the lounge.
