 Power Distance Index - movilogo
Came to know about this interesting concept today.

This is an index which ranks countries around the world based on how they respect organization hierarchy, individualism etc.

Well Sweden is lowest with 5 followed by Norway with 8, we're 66, Slovakia are way out in front with 110 with Japan following on 95. Now you know :)

High IDV score indicates a country where people have more sense of individualism than others. USA scores highest on this and UK is second.

PDI is measure of how social or organizational hierarchy is respected/implemented in a country. A high score means (in most Arab countries and Far East countries as well communist states) hierarchy is strictly imposed i.e. you are NOT expected to challenge your superiors.

A low index means you can very easily challenge/improves decisions made by your superiors. Austria, Holland, Japan etc. scores low - i.e. less hierarchy.
