Some bloke buzzing around in a go-cart.

The whole thing's lost on me.

Which I would say of 90 per cent of YouTube clips.

He's doing a real-life Mario-kart.

I am obviously in a rather Meldrew mood. I thought the whole thing illegal and dangerous and can see no point in it. Vehicle not street legal, huge smoke emissions, reckless and dangerous driving, thowing litter out of the "Window". Would not get away with that here and quite right too but fairly typically French maybe?

A Mario Cart - is that a good thing, a bad thing or a load of carp?

That actually made me laugh out loud. Brilliant.

As I can't get near the TV in the evenings, and have given up trying, YouTube has recently become my entertainment medium of choice. Among the huge swathes of crap, there are some real gems.

I'm sure that's right, and it's a metaphor for the internet in general.

Every nation has a sense of humour. Some delirious French comedy movies will make anyone roll about on the floor. Germans can be hilarious too.

The French are notably more relaxed and less uptight than we are when it comes to misbehaviour on the road (although their plod try hard to swim against the tide). Goes with crazed adolescents hurtling down the pavements of the Grands Boulevards in Paris on mopeds. No one seems to mind.

The video made me smile but not laugh. I didn't like the cartoon graphics or whoops of joy. Loved the banana-skin throwing though, and the security man descending in the supermarket.

All the above is taken from the Mario Kart game, as is the cube that he drives through. The cube toggles the cycling of weapons in the top left of the screen, eventually awarding a weapon which can be used to nobble the other participants, banana skins and turtles being among them It's a very clever copy of the game content. The whooping is also directly sampled from it.

I have been known to borrow my daughter's Nintendo DS for a quick game or two.... :-)

I have hated that stupid little italian plumber with a passion ever since he was created by crazed japanese minds. I blame it for creating a generation of morons.

Thankfully Grand Theft Auto and Medal of Honour has redressed the balance.
