House with a bit of privacy. - Fenlander
Wrong area for us but at last a house on the market with no old Land Rovers or wheelie bins in the front garden... and an enviable amount of privacy...

An extreme measure to hide the dreaded wheelie bins, in my opinion.

Could well be a tree house for all we know.

Fantastic. Space for a few ivy-covered old cars in the front garden too.

Apparently it has a tree growing through the middle too.

It's probably got a mint '69 Miura in the garage ...

The house probably belongs to the drummer from The Ivy League.

Only if it was previously damaged or unsound (ask any unsound builder)

:)

Don't get why it's so cheap.
House with a bit of privacy. - Zero
Its a wreck, and you probably cant get a mortgage on it in its current state. So its cash only.

That being said, it will probably go for 200k+

Perhaps when they strip the ivy it will look OK like this one...

Its actually got wheels on it. There is a transit round the back.

Nice one.

Don't underestimate the destructive power of ivy. At stage one it's just a lovely romantic wall covering, but wait till it gets its shoots into crevises in the brickwork and through gaps round window frames, under slates and into the roof eaves, and you find it is a tree with 3 inch stems forcing the whole structure apart. In the end it will loosen massive sections of the walls, and you end up with an an ivy structure with chunks of wall hanging detached inside it as in a cage.

Maybe its cheap becuase its also next door to a giant phone mast?

You can see some kind of mast sticking out from the neighbours house

The thing like a loft ladder sticking out of the roof? Handy for growing ivy up.

Where has the mast gone?
House with a bit of privacy. - Fenlander
Seems when streetview car was about there was some factory/development land at the rear... perhaps they sold a bit off for a mast??

After my mum died I had to sell her house. She had a greenhouse, made from an aluminium frame with glass panes. The ivy had destroyed it by growing along the aluminium, and through joints. In addition ivy can bring down trees by increasing weight and wind resistance. It can be nasty stuff.

I saw a nice house recently, but with a hole in the roof, and damp inside. The problem with that house, and the ivy one, is that unless you are an expert, you don't know the damage. In my case the estate agent told me some experts had examined it and declared it sound. So, that's alright then. No paperwork, or proof, mind!!!!

Is this have a pop at Essex day - first Chelmsford and now lovely Jaywick?

Mongrel. 0:) It will grow through the masonry quickly enough particularly with Lime mortar joints.

This my luvly Ivy guv'nor, the only damage done was/is in the top RH corner where the outside light is,
Ivy found a soft spot and entered the loft area but died orf due to dark, lack of moisture.

KEEP???? Well that is old hat isn't it?? and evede as well!! I wasn't trying to evAde the swear filter. Lighten up a little will you. We are all adults here on one of the most pleasant sites on the net and I can't believe anybody would be offended by that manufactured word. I actually stole it from a women in the W.I. who used it recently at a meeting locally. I was there in a professional capacity (emergency Plumbing). Her audience were all MATURE, SELF FINANCING, PROFESSIONALS. You know... the backbone of the country type and they ALL roared with laughter. I think that in these days of the 'F' word being used willy nilly (is that allowed???) that it made a point and would NOT have offended anyone...other than you. Perhaps you would have the courtesy to run this (the whole thing) by the other Moderator's.

Regards..............Martin.

Martin, it starts by one person breaking the rules, then others start to jump on the band wagon because they think they can also get away with it.

I didn't write the rules. I, and the other moderators however are here to make sure people abide by them. You've previously been brought to task about this via email, yet you continue making up words to evade (checks to make sure I spelt it correctly this time) the swear filter.

It was a polite request. If you cannot handle polite requests and also follow the T's & C's like most other people on here, then might I suggest you find another forum that is more suited to your made up words.

>> We are all adults here

Are you sure? I sometimes wonder because of the puerile way that certain people behave. No names mentioned.

Help me out here a bit. I am trying to recall the character on this site who thought it was quite good to slow down or indeed use the handbrake to avoid showing brake lights to someone following too closely. My question was triggered by the word Puerile.

Best regards as ever..........Martin.

I would have said that was reckless and dangerous, not puerile.
