Unless the forum software has changed, all the mods can do to reset the thread counter is to move it to another forum/thread and then back. That resets to zero. There isn't anything to set it to a particular figure. L'escargot you will no doubt know the count goes up by one every time a thread is opened. So if you refresh the thread page itself (thus reload it) you increase the count as one. The count is not unique views. Perhaps PU should have explained this? I could make the count up to 4000 quickly myself if you want. Reply to this message | Report message

Dave, you confirmed what I knew from how it was before and assumed it was now too. L'escargot may have thought PU set the views number some other way. Whereas he simply viewed the thread and selected refresh a few times. Even clicking on your own thread a few times adds views of course. As all mods know. I felt I had failed a little if a new thread like F1 had multiple views before it was live ;-) Because the extra views was me fixing the links etc. Reply to this message | Report message

It was refreshing the screen when the thread was on it. So if the view count was "10" when I started and I refreshed it say five times it would become "15" as I say I only did a few times for a giggle when you first posted - obviously my schoolboy sense of humour was out of kilter with yours ! :-) Reply to this message | Report message

L'escargot, as you're aware this forum used to be elsewhere in cyberspace. Back then the statistics were more meaningful to a certain hat wearing person. Once the new site is ready (I've been assured it's not too far away) then the views figure might vanish altogether or tweaked to stop false numbers being racked up. I was merely making an observation about the site which previously hadn't been apparent. It hadn't been apparent to me, and I suspect it hadn't been apparent to most other Car4play members. In a way, I'm pleased to have been instrumental, in a small measure and admittedly unwittingly, in highlighting the worthlessness (except to a certain hat-wearer in another life) of the "views" figures.
