I've figured out how to copy the numbers from a Nokia N70 to Outlook Express, and subsequently to my iPhone.
However, in the contacts stored on the N70 (on the phone, not the SIM card), some contacts each had 2 or 3 phone numbers stored, but only one number is being copied across. Some other data isn't being exported too.
Is there any way that I can get the other numbers & data exported as well, or is it a case of going through each and every contact and typing in the missing numbers manually?
I did try a website called phonecopy.com - found by googling. I can get the iPhone to sync with it (with their free ap) but I cannot get the N70 to sync with phonecopy. If I could, then I could see if all the numbers were exported and I could then import them to the iPhone.

Not sure what's going wrong there, I've used OE to copy contacts between a variety of Nokias, a K750i and a HTC without problems, synchronising the phone contacts to the OE address book and then snych. onwards to the target phone.

Yes sorry DD
forgot to mention you cant copy the address via sim card due to the size difference....
VBG!
But
Did you know you can get a micro sim carrier?
Copy everything sim to phone on nokia.
Insert new micro sim into sim carrier
Insert sim carrier into Nokia
Copy phone to sim
Remove sim from carrier
Insert sim into Iphone.

Zero, the micro sim came attached to a standard sized sim carrier. I put this in the N70 but all it asked me was whether I wanted to copy the sim contents to the phone, but not the other way around. I can individually copy the phone contacts to the sim, but not the whole lot at once. Actually the bloke in Tesco's phone dept suggested basically what you did.
Whatever I've tried so far, all it does is pick up only one phone number that's linked to a contact, not any other numbers also assigned to that contact.

Any method of transfer involving the SIM will always end up with one number per name, that's a basic limitation of SIM storage. Synchronise the N70 contacts to OE address book via BT or cable (make sure it is set up to copy N70 content to OE not vice-versa) . I've never played with an iPhone but presumably there's some way of synching your newly expanded OE address book to it via BT or cable.

>> Synchronise the N70 contacts to OE address book via BT or cable
That's what I've done, but only one number gets copied, not any other numbers stored in the same contact details.

Done through iTunes and a cable to the iPhone.

Is the N70 definitely set up to store contacts in phone memory not on the SIM? that's the only thing I can think of that might cause this. weird.

Hi ariele
Press Menu key > Messaging(shows) > Press Navigation key down one > Contacts(shows) Press Navigation key(centre)> Press Left soft key (Options) This now shows Contacts screen with cursor on "Open" > Press Navigation key down 8 times to reach Mark/Unmark Press Navigation Key(centre) this gives options of Mark/Mark all (right hand side of screen) Press Navigation key down to move to Mark all > Press Navigation key(centre) to carry out command
All contacts are now ticked > Press Left soft key (Options) > Cursor now on "Delete" > Press Navigation Key down 2 times to reach Copy Press Navigation key (centre) > Press Navigation key (centre) again to carry out command to copy "To SIM directory"

Your Nokia can sync its contacts with Gmail, so that is by far the easiest and best option.
First, if you don't have a gmail account, sign up for one. It's free, and you only want it for the contacts feature.
Next, import your contacts into the gmail account from your N70. Instructions on how to do so are at www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=147951
Now, set up an account on your iPhone that talks to the Gmail account. Although the iPhone has a GMail option, you actualy want to set it up as an Exchange account.
www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=138740
Tick only contacts unless you want to use Gmail as a calendar and email as well.
Your phone should now fill up with your contacts, incuding all numbers, addresses, emails etc. Best of all, you can run this in parallel with your existing email, and it will just act as a backup in case you lose the phone.

Yes, stored on the phone.
What I think might be causing conflicts is that I've renamed some of the default names (ie, instead of mobile or home, I've given them a different tag)
If I back the N70 up using Nokia PC Suite, then restore it, all the numbers and other data in the contacts are still there. If I view the contacts via PC Suite, all the data isn't being shown, neither is all the data exported to a csv or txt file.
I think I need to go through each contact (probably needs some housekeeping and cleanup anyway) and then manually add anything that is missing.

Thanks RF. If I had more time then I probably could have found the answer to that one myself. Been up the hospital again most of the day though.

Thanks SO. That's another option I might explore.

Dave, have you got acess to a PC with Outlook rather than Outlook Express?
You can easily sync the Nokia with Outlook and then likewise the iPhone I am sure.

Cheddar,
I think my laptop has. I'll try giving a go when I get a chance.
Thanks.
