Popped in for a pint this lunchtime, sat quietly at the bar, group of "young mums" and toddlers sat at a table with thier pints of Lager. One "mum" pipes up "OOh! it`s pancake Tuesday tommer!" and another pipes up, "an "Hash Wednesday the day after". third "mum" chips in " I`ve no corned beef, remind me to get some on the way home Shirl". according to my calendar it's another fortnight until shrove Tuesday which falls on March 8 asa consequence of the late Easter. Not something I'm that bothered about observing but happened to coincide with needing a 'late pass' for a night out with a work mate. Reminds me that for a couple of years in the nineties colleagues with any vague connection to Catholicism used to attend the Ash Wednesday service at the Catholic church in Kingsway.
