Just browsing BBC News when I saw some ads! Is this a new development, or is it because I am in France? I saw a couple, but now there are none.

Yes you get ads on BBC news if you are not on a UK IP address. YOu get adds on BBC news 24 TV when abroad as well in some areas.

Yep the law is only applies to the UK, there is nothing to stop the BBC showing adds abroad.
