Well some of us - me excluded.
A survey has revealed that one in 20 of us only change the bed sheets twice a year.
tinyurl.com/6exrqdz
It also discovered that one in five Britons change the bedsheets once a month while 57 per cent never make their beds the next day.
Mine are changed weekly, and turned around mid week. In the summer months they might be changed twice a week. Bed is also made before I head off to work.

Thanks for reminding me that that job is due at the end of this month.....

What does "turned" mean?
|
I think it means a bit like socks and underpants......you turn them inside out if you haven't got a clean pair.
Pat
|
That's what I thought too Pat - maybe it's a motorcyclist ting !
|
Just bought 5 pairs of trolleys from M & S. Told the girl on the till that I just put them all on at once and removed the outer pair every month.
She didn't seem impressed.
You're right, it's a biker thing.
Pat...there's a post on the other, other place for GB and you.

Reminds me of when a friend's son went off to uni, shortly before the end of the first term she got a phone call 'Mum, when should I change the bed sheets?' .......

my pants are so old, it's only the stubborn understains that are holding them together!
|
It used to be common to cut a sheet in half longways and then sew the former outside edges together to remake it.
This was done because the sheet would wear thin in the middle, but not towards its edges.
|
Just realised that if my system is used, the inner pair, amongst all the action, are going to be there for 5 months !
Ugh !
Ted
|
You can double that Ted by also turning them inside out...
|
Never thought of that....that's 10 months covered then !

Dragon Rally this weekend Ted - fancy it ?

I'm taking one pair of trollies and that's it.

Too much information:)

Not been for a long time, Rob...would be good but out of MOT.
Booked in for Tuesday.
Not that lots of them bother, I would imagine.

I spot the Young Ones reference!
Episode = Bambi.
Character = Vyvyan.
I think my prize should be a portion of lentil casserole.

Provided you agree to sneak around to Pat's and put the leftovers in her wheelie bin.

Pants last four times as long. First you turn them inside out, then back to front, then turn them inside out and back to front. By then, the original way round will be pretty much clean, so you can start all over again. The only downside is the willy hole at the back for a month, every other month.

Handy for number 2's though.
|
>>By you ?
Not the washing bit, but occasionally making the bed. There are some perks to still living at home ;o)
I help fold the sheets after they've been washed and dried though.
>> What does "turned" mean?
As in turn the sheets over. At least I think that's what she does.
|
>>Mine are changed weekly, and turned around mid week.
My mother did this. The 'turning' was the exchanging the bottom sheet for the top one. Doesn't work of course when using fitted sheet and duvet cover.
|
Just stay out half the week.
|
Am I the only one that sleeps under a duvet ?
|
...Am I the only one that sleeps under a duvet ?...
And am I the only one who thinks changing the cover is one of the worst domestic chores?
|
Recent covers have slits in the sides (top end) makes changing them a breeze....
|
You're right Iffy, changing the duvet cover and cleaning the oven.
I have found an answer though, I add the duvet cover to Mr pda's 'to do' list because he's taller and I don't use the oven
Pat
|
I hate cleaning the oven as well - at least in the property we're interested in the oven is at standing up level so should be easier.
|
Cleaning?
The OVEN?
Good heavens.
|
>> Am I the only one that sleeps under a duvet ?
No, but I have a sheet (that's changed weekly) between me and the duvet.
|
Am I the only one who wonders why duvet covers have to have concealed fastenings.
Why not big sensible buttons instead of tiny little, ungrippable ones that you need contortionist's fingers to do up in a position where they become invisible.
Why...does it matter if someone sees them.....our duvet faces away from the door anyway
so I don't think anyones going to come into the room and criticise our buttoming arrangements.
Actually, I can't do them up. I just hold a corner whilst SWM, who's left handed, does them all.
Arghh
