Please can anyone recommend a toaster which will cook two pieces of bread evenly on both sides and from top to bottom, without spending £100 on a Dualit?

I'm not sure such a toaster exists.

How about £50? tinyurl.com/46ob4ov

Our Tefal Avanti has been doing a good job for many years. And you get a knob to select how brown it goes! tinyurl.com/6f2top3

I am with ClkSec so far, hence my question! The Tefal looks like a Dualit copy and might be worth a try. Please keep the opinions coming

I bought a Breville TT33 from Comet about six months ago. It was about sixty pounds but I see that it's now a whopping £102. www.comet.co.uk/p/Toasters/buy-BREVILLE-TT33-Toaster/259608#customerReviews
It has proved to be an excellent buy and browns the bread evenly.

I was thinking the same thing - 111 posts on a toaster.
But as I'm here, I've since seen a new Dualit for about £60.
Were I in the market, I would be tempted.

Prestige 51050 Dakota 2 slice toaster £22 from Amazon. Works well.
|
We bought a very serviceable Russell Hobbs twin-slot job from Argos for about £25 a couple of years ago. Very large slots, will manage crumpets and breadmaker bread as well as the usual sliced loaves.

As the party responsible for the last toaster thread it's probably best if I stay out of this one.

My £10 4-slice toaster from Argos serving me well for last 4 years ;-)

Whatever happened to just putting a couple of slices under the grill and turning it over when necessary.
|
It went the same way as sitting in front of the fire with a toasting fork.

Ah, them were the days. Kept you warm too.
And you could control how brown the bread became (or burnt).

A cook makes my toast..
None of this second hand poor service: proper grille job.
Only once a blue moon job. I make it the rest of the time.

Does the butler get it to you before it goes cold?

I am afraid my cook - my butler due to cost cutting measures implemented long before it became fashionable.
I always wanted a French maid... but....

Ah, the impoverished aristocracy, maintaining standards. No doubt the hoi polloi will be tramping through the place in return for their half crown come Easter :-(

They'll still be imperiously waved away with a contemptuous flick of the hand.
As they should be.

The hoi polloi tramp through the house every day - they are the owners...

Depends how far the kitchens are from the breakfast room...
A customer a few years ago bought a run-down 17-bedroom manor house, his girlfriend disliked it because he couldn't hear her calling from the living room up to the bedroom...
|
Did you see that programme a few months back with Sarah Beeny doing up a manor house? I noticed the kids were running around with walkie talkies around their necks!
