They now charge £1 booking fee. Well they make money from a percentage of the ticket anyway. I have discovered that none of the TOCs website have such booking fee.

I have just saved £1 by booking a ticket on First Great Westerns site rather than the Trainline.com.

Yeh - I've been using FGW for my 3 times a week train commute advance tickets for a year or 2 since thetrainline introduced postage charges IIRC.

Train tickets are a real minefield! East Coast, formerly GNER, give a 10% discount for booking one line. Loads of advice on train tickets on the well respected moneysavingexpert.com run by Martin Lewis
