Look, if people are going to pretend to be pedants they should damn well learn to spell first.

The word independent, or dependent used as an adverb or adjective, is spelt as I have spelt it here.

The word dependant is a noun, usually designating e.g. non-earning family members.

Honestly, being associated with some people here is too too shaming, sweeties.

I didn't realise there was a hierarchy of pedants. I thought they were all a pain in the.......
Most overused phrase in Car4play - Tooslow
That's why you use a nom de guerre AC. You can associate with the rabble and no one will ever know.

The word "Skill" in reference to one's ability to drive a car.

A man who removes a brain tumour or separates conjoined twins has a skill. Blokes who drive cars do not.

I have been driven at 100+ mph on the public roads by a police traffic driver and felt safe. I'd prefer him to a surgeon in those circumstances every time. I also acknowledge the skill of the surgeon who saved my life.

I've driven much, much faster than that on public roads whilst listening to my ipod and chatting to my wife. It took no skill whatsover, just some concentration, care and attention.

No. I just find holding a steering wheel while staring straight ahead really, really, really, really, easy. Not really comparable to being a surgeon or specialist in internal medicine is it?

"I drove 400 miles today and it didn't miss a beat."

Of course it didn't, it was only 400 miles and it was designed to last about 250000.

What is a "beat" anyway?

If you had some time and were sad enough a search would show....

*rear mounted cycle carrier* finds just 4 posts (increases to 37 for *cycle carrier*)
*Jordan* 27 posts
*Honest John* 121 posts
*Mondeo* 136
*Pedant* 195
*Winter tyre* & *IMHO* draw at 238
*Snow* 723

and the winner way out front...

*The other place* with 1391 posts.

Interesting post about Jordan over on the "the other place" Apparently she was driving her Mondeo in the the snow. Mondeo was fitted with winter tyres and a rear mounted cycle carrier.

She run over a pedant named Honest John. IMHO he had it coming.

Are you sure Rattle wasn't worried about it? (247).

Sorry Rattle old chap. A friendly jibe is all :)

Well done on getting some actual figures, Fenlander, but they are only partially relevant to the discussion.

The figures that you give are the "most posted", and these are not necessarily the same as "the most overused" which was what the OP was asking for.

I think that the most overused phrase is "TBH". Why say it? I'm not doubting anyones honesty on this forum. (Their sanity, sometimes, yes)

"overused phrase" he said, with a straight face.

Is this becoming recursive?

Recursive?

Hold on, I'll have to look that one up...here we are...repetitive.

Repetition on an internet forum?

Surely not.
