Bernie Ecclestone was mugged in central London on Wednesday evening, suffering a head injury in the attack.
The 80-year-old Formula 1 commercial boss and his girlfriend Fabiani Flosi were jumped by four men outside the Knightsbridge offices of his Formula One Holdings company.
Ecclestone was kicked and punched before his attackers escaped with around £200,000 worth of jewellery, according to media reports.

And I bet he doesn't owe six million.

Wahahahahah!
Ecclestone's comments in response to an attempted attack on Jenson Button :
"They look for victims, they look for anyone that looks like a soft touch and not too bright," Ecclestone said. "The people that look a bit soft and simple, they will always have a go at."
The biter bit, Bernie!

The guy is 80. It's usually a pensioner outside a PO. These guys are despicable. I could suggest a suitable punishment but I might be accused of being un-pc!

As in...Attach them to a length of rope behind an F1 car and take them for a lap or two round Silverstone. "y'll be fine as long as you can keep up lads"...
|
There was an astonishing (well, maybe not) statistic on tv last night. 1 in 4 women has suffered from violence at the hands of her partner. And 1 in 6 men. Even taking these numbers with a pinch of salt and wondering what the definition of "violence" is, that is an awful lot of people who seem to engage in casual violence.
How many F1 cars can you line up Humph?

Me?...None, but Bernie strikes me as the sort of guy who might know people you might not want to upset...

I read a biography of him. I got that impression.

Not if Bernie's friends track them down.... They'll be lucky to get hospital food.

I still can't get over how anyone could stoop so low.

I know Ecclestone's a man of diminutive stature, but perhaps the mugger's weren't very tall either.

He probably banged his eye on his GF's knee.

Still find it odd to report that an 80 year old has a "girlfriend"

Don't knock it 'til you've tried it. Only another thirty years to go PU! ;>)

...Only another thirty years to go PU!...
More like 29. :)

Along similar lines, what has Lembit Öpik got that attracts the younger GF? Was he at the front of the queue when tallywackers were being handed out?

"Lembit Öpik got that attracts the younger GF?"
Whatever he's got, he can keep it. Humping a Cheeky Girl must be like riding a bike over train tracks. Uugh.

A myth perpetuated by men>> size matters.
A fact ignored by men>> It's not how big it is but what you do with it that matters.

Horrible ugly thing. Not the sort of specimen you'd want to take home to your parents. Clearly a tasteless fashion victim.

It is deadful that thugs would do that to someone never mind an 80 year old man, just to get some money. As for the watch, that is one ugly tasteless mutt. I wonder if the thieves will get anything for the watch beyond a derisory sum? It is such a high end model, that there cannot be many about, so selling it on at a high price would be hard.
I notice the charity Victim Support came out with the usual lack of sense of humour comment we hear so often these days. I think anyone who sees that advert will be shocked that someone could do that, and any laughter at the advert will be black humour, and with a nod of respect towards Ecclestone. And it might make wealthy watch owners take more care of their porta-bling.
