Well, not quite yet.
Last week saw the first passenger vehicles since the mid 80s to run on the old Manchester South District Railway trackbed.
A Metrolink tram was pushed down the line from Old Trafford by a small diesel shunter..
One of the new trams, in the new livery of yellow and grey was also propelled over the lines.
These trips were for testing and gauging purposes.

The photo shows the older tram being pushed towards the present terminus, just beyond the bridge. Eventually this will be a junction where the Airport branch goes off to the right.
Teddy Towers is about 100 yds back on the left. The tracks are 40 ft from the back of my workshop/garage..
We got a letter this morning to say that the power lines were now energised.
It's all coming on !
