 Which TV transmitter? - Focusless
Although we have only moved about a mile from our previous place, we have changed from Meridian TV to London.

But given our location in Reading (RG5) and looking at the respective coverage maps:
stakeholders.ofcom.org.uk/broadcasting/guidance/tech-guidance/transmaps/
it looks like the nearest transmitter is Herndean, which is Meridian. And the freeview picture does seem to freeze more often than it did before (although it's not too bad).

Is a trip to the roof required?

When you moved into your new house did you just accept the existing aerial arrangement and plug your TV in? It may be that there is a loft aerial which is pointing at the "wrong" transmitter for you? It sounds as though you are not getting a strong signal from the transmitter you are using.

Some people should not be let loose with highlighter pens. :-)

Thanks guys - it looks like my aerial should be pointing at Hannington (18 miles away) rather than Crystal Palace (36 miles - I assume that's where it's currently pointing).

But aerial is on the roof - might leave it to an expert, or at least someone who has a long ladder and is happy to climb up it :)

There are only two reasons I can think of why you might want to keep the London service -

their news, rather than Meridian.

T2 HD between now and digital switch-over (which is fairly late for Hannington, early 2012?)

We're quite used to the regional nature of the odd bits of South Today we see, Sally Taylor et al, so the London based news doesn't feel relevant. (Hardly ever watch Meridian news.)

Not planning to go HD in the immediate future but thanks for pointing that out.

I live nearly 30 miles outside London. Why would I want London news?

I have freesat anyway, I can get any regions news.

...I can get any regions news...

Same on Sky.

Very useful facility, I'm sure I've used it at least once in five years.
