Hello, Any coments or experinces on the Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 and X10, the X2 is a Windows Mobile phone and has a better screen and also a slide out querty keyboard, the X10 has more memory plus a faster processor and is an Android phone, any thoughts? Windows Mobile is going nowhere fast. Its too late - Android and IOS4 are the best kids on the block I was trying to be kind about it. Plus No slide out keyboard is attractive, The fact you need a slide out keyboard means its a crap software user interface and a crap physical interface. Go to a shop and try out the phone(s). e.g. CPW. If you have ruled out an iPhone then go for Android. Windows Mobile is dead in the water. Do post questions. There are others on here with Android including myself. Got a small number of apps I'd say are useful. Some such as monitoring data use over 3G/GPRS or switching on/off WiFi when at/away-from places you want it on/off. You will find that with a modern smartphone the battery life is poor. It will last a day on average if used very lightly. This is the same for Android and iPhone.... put a 1GHz CPU in a small phone with a relatively small battery.... you can guess the rest. If you want to sync contact and diary with a computer, then I'd setup synchronisation via Googlemail. Also storing numbers on a SIM allows a lot less info to be stored than if you use the phone memory. I've not put numbers on a SIM in years. II've created a number on the SIM and it stores it on my phone, allows editing and I deleted it. An icon next to the number shows it is on the SIM and not on Google. Without wishing to divert the thread, if you are as paranoid as I am then you won't be using Gmail for any important personal data. Much as we all love Google, they are American, and your data might very well hit servers not in Europe. There will be no Data Protection in place once that happens ("Safe Harbor" notwithstanding) and who knows how the data might be used, or mined, now or in the future. That applies to Google Apps too, in its default usage. Of course, if you are a normal person you won't care or worry. But "corporately" where I work (approx 30 thousand users) the decision has been made that it's not advised, to the extent that we have set up a localised Google Apps system over which we have more control. Even then the contract says Google can take the data and use it pretty much as they want, although at least they are supposed to let us know when and in what way. I dont know whether you have a Gmail account yet (you will need it for the Android Market) but if you sync your contacts you should be able to organise them on your PC. Perhaps you'll be able to delete it there. Reply to this message | Report message
