Stumbled across this, it gave me a chuckle.

Those guys at OTIS lifts must be 50% psychology lab 50% lift sales. They found, i think in the 70s, that young men would destroy lifts. They put cameras in some lifts and found young guys would take bit by bit away with them, a button, the emergency phone door, they'd even remove or at least break the support rails round the side.

They tried a few things, alarms, flashing lights, pausing the lift before settling on installing mirrors. They found that as soon as you put a mirror in the lift, young guys were too busy looking at themselves to destroy the lifts :-)

a few years ago all autotrader adverts were hand written onto sheets of paper in triplicate and this day a colleague asked mE to proof read all the wordings were right on them
well on one it said push button windows so i asked him what they were,electric windows said he
so why not put electric windows then i asked
i ribbed him for a long time over it
