For the past few years, my work colleagues and I had been drinking in a pub about 250m from the office on Friday and Saturday evenings, between working periods. This meant walking across Greenmarket square, dodging the stall-holders packing up, beggars, aftershave and sunglasses salesmen etc etc etc
THEN come May, they opened a pub a literal stone's-throw from the office. Much easier to stagger to and from.
Two weeks ago, said pub closed. After failing to make any money.
So back to Pub A last week.
They had a lucky draw of a Castle Lager hamper. Buy a pint, name in the hat.
today I find out I won it - dozen beers, six glasses, couple of t-shirts, polo shirt, tray, ice bucket, kitbag etc.
Jammy or what?
They hate me now!

What's the price of a pint of Castle nowadays?
We can get Windhoek Lager here in Blighty now. Haven't seen it in the shops but there are full page ads for it in the Sunday supplements. A photo of an ice cold bottle in front of a Sossusvlei dune.
