I had a twenty foot garage built at a previous property. Building control required nine foot footings because of nearby trees and clay soil and a block and beam floor. The builder didn't shore up the trenches and they collapsed.
All the soil was removed with a JCB and fleet of grab lorries.
There was quite a void under the floor that I reckon could quite easily be turned into a bunker.

Thing is, it's in Tilehurst. So if you use it as a fallout bunker, how would you know if a bomb has actually been dropped when you decide to emerge?

Im sure installation of a few radiation detectors and cameras would be simple, and the absence of chatter on social media a bit of a clue.
The main problem is location - if the balloon goes up and warheads rain down the Thames corridor is not the place to be. Just 30 miles from Heathrow and Strike Command, and close to massive AI data centres means you would simply become collateral damage.

If the balloon goes up I want to be right underneath the first one. Most survivors will wish they had been too.
