I have an account with Uber. I have their App on my phone.
The only place, pretty much, I use it them is when I'm in Liverpool seeing my son; avoids drink driving and messing with cars in a place I don't know.
Yesterday I had an email from them regarding a charge of £4.78 for cancelling/failing to pick up a ride late on Thursday evening. Checking my App it shows a booked ride to 'Greencore'. They're a big outfit with a factory at Moulton, on the other side of Northampton to me, who make sandwiches for supermarkets etc.
Other than eating their products I've no link. I didn't book a ride there or anywhere else on Thursday. I was probably in bed by the time of the transaction.
Rung and reported it but as it seems the booking was made on my device they're saying no mistake!!
Escalated but agent I spoke to managed expectations by saying they're unlikely to know any more than she did.
I guess there's a limit to the time and emotion I'll devote to getting back less than a fiver and just keep an eye on it!!

Change your password, just in case.
Have you sold an old phone to someone and not cleared it?
Does Mrs Bromp. share the account with you?
Is it anywhere near the car dealership when you've been taking the car to be fixed and you "bum" dialled Uber?

I'd chase it up regardless - it may be an excellent way of pickpocketing by remote control.
