Shopping with my wife today. Family Wedding approaching and apparently a new handbag is essential. She bought one in a sale for £399
Thought that was a lot but just heard on the radio that a Hermes bag has just sold for $10,000,000
Did I get away lightly?

Yes!
I'm sure that I've recounted this before...
Several years ago I saw a sale of Radley handbags / backpacks / beach bags etc in Debenhams with significant discounts.
I though I would treat Mrs and Miss Zippy but couldn't decide on what to buy, so I got 9, expecting some to go back.
Not one did!

Shein is your friend these days :-)

Not if you value a peaceful life!

That's no way to refer to Mrs CG....

I couldn't get my wife to a wedding, no time. Spends most of her day cleaning the newish kitchen worktops with the dishcloth !

Yes. Mrs B and our daughter are both members of Harris Tweed Anonymous.
We can't visit the Tweed shops in Tarbert or Stornoway without a massive bill.

Talking of handbags, I’m still clearing my mums house.
She often brought a new handbag from from holiday…some nice Italian stuff. I cannot even get £25 for 21 of them !
|
No you did not.
If my wife wanted a £399 handbag I expect she'd take the money out of her own savings account and buy it, but she is far too sensible to do that.
The last thing she drew out of her savings account for was £200 worth of compost (as far as I know...).
|
What is intrinsically more sensible about buying compost than a handbag?
I take the view that if we can afford it and want it then we buy it. Don’t have his and hers accounts. It’s all the same pot effectively.
|
>>Don't have his and hers accounts.
I don't either. What's her's is her's and what's mine is her's also! :-D
|
We are very much a joint enterprise but she likes to have a pot of her own that she puts her OAP into and that she can access if I suddenly fall off the twig.
I do not criticise the purchase of handbags or frivolity of any kind.
