Who thinks miss Maxwell will be getting a “get out of jail free card” from someone who was
Acquainted to Jeffrey Epstein.
Might have to sign a non disclosure agreement.

Nah.
She'll slip in the shower and break her neck. Accidentally of course.
|
|
In russia she would fall out the window
|
|
One way or another she won't be allowed to talk. If I were her I would be very scared.
|
Her lawyer needs to get the sworn statement now.
Easiest thing for Trump would be just to pardon her.
The most appalling thing here is that I don't think this will finish him even if she does testify that he is a paedophile.
It would however be easy to get rid of him if more than half a dozen republicans in Senate or Congress showed any moral fibre whatsoever. They should all be asked whether they back Trump because of greed, or fear.

Especially if he succeeds in becoming a quasi-religious actor. Middle aged clerics with a cult following have indulged in sometimes very young females with impunity throughout history.

Trump is now requiring that whenever Republicans as about the Epstein list, they should reply by saying Obama treasonably conspired to fix the 2016 election. Gabbard is busy rewriting history and erasing the report that says the Russians did exactly that.
It just defies belief. Maxwell needs to spill the beans before she has a fatal accident.
Trump does actually appear to be losing it at this point. Maybe if we were to pull the state visit it would tip him over the edge.

POTUS can only be removed against his will in three ways:
- impeachment - unlikely - time consuming - no successful impeachment in US history
- unable to perform the duties of - unlikely - requires cabinet and 2/3 Congress and Senate vote
- if found guilty of insurrection or rebellion against the US - unlikely
Whether Maxwell has a smoking gun is unknown. Guilt by association based solely on the basis he had some social relationship with Epstein is unjust - it is what the US did in spades with MCCarthyism.
He can significantly limit (power, money) disclosure of evidence, and is no stranger to denial of the blindingly obvious.
Pulling the state visit is not a clever idea. There is barely a small chance that it would drive him over the edge - but his outsize ego seems to render him impervious to criticism.
The more plausible outcome is that the UK would go from best to least buddy in Europe making us vulnerable to whatever irrational response he wants to choose - tariffs, defence, sanctions etc etc.
Take the emotion out of it and treating him "royally" gives the best outcome for UK PLC.

I guess it's arguable that Nixon's impeachment was successful; jumped before being pushed.

I didn't suggest we should do it
Point is he's nearer the edge than he has been before IMO. He should probably have pardoned Maxwell when the focus was elsewhere. As it is, this is a news story that won't go away and has been running for 2 weeks, which basically never happens.
If he pardons her now, it just confirms he's guilty of something, and this has been a Maga-driven campaign to get the 'list' disclosed. He rode this campaign himself. Now he looks as if he is suppressing the evidence to save himself. It looks very much as if Bondi is going to see Maxwell to do a deal on a pardon.
His latest deflection is to accuse Obama of treason for inventing the Russian interference of which Trump says he has "proof". So will be come under pressure to arrest Obama? Whatever we think we have seen to date An American president arresting political rivals on trumped up charges would be a whole new level.
It's complete tripe of course. The state intelligence committee led by Rubio concluded that the Russians had tried to influence the election.
Trump is very close to losing support from his own base, at least the less cultish voters.

Don't forget the Reps don't need to remove him. Just vote him down.

I think they will be mindful of Franklin’s words.
“We must all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately.”

I think he's losing the more extreme supporters as well. They think he's sold out maga to the establishment.

This is a bit weird because Maxwell has already said in her trial there is no more, the trail is cold, there are no incriminating records and the possible witnesses are dead. OTOH she could possibly make some statement today that 'clears' |Trump.
There is speculation that she will be offered a deal by the AAG in which she does this and then she will receive a pardon at the end of Trump's term. The problem with that is that from Trump's POV she might change her mind at any time, and she has to survive the next 3 years in custody. What are the chances of that? If they want to bank the testimony she has to disappear.
This appears to be close to getting away from Trump, but he will brazen it out whatever and the lickspittles will toe the line. We can only hope the MAGAs in congress stay angry with him.

US politics is toxic in a way which makes Tory, Labour, Reform spats seem positively benign.
Some are motivated to publicly speculate about Trumps involvement irrespective of substance. That evidence available is withheld reinforces the proposition there really is something to hide.
If Maxwell has hard evidence to severely damage the Trump presidency, I doubt he would rely upon promises of her continued silence - she may now have have followed Epstein to the pearly gates.
In the UK a vote of confidence usually means internal party squabbles take second place to party political success - rarely if ever successful. Thus the Republicans are unlikely to sacrifice political position to reduce Trumps antics - anything that is said will be in private.
The big test will be the Congressional elections in November 2026 where a small swing could unseat the Republicans. It is somewhat questionable whether a US neutered by a Senate and Congress in opposition is better or worse than than a one dominated by an egotistical Trump.

Lots of people thinking he'll just pardon her now to keep her quiet, but that doesn't work for me. If she does have anything, she could blab at any time thereafter, or at least withdraw anything she has said to support his 'innocence'.
Similarly, if she extracts the end of term promise, then she can only collect if she is alive in 2028/9.
OTOH, once she has unloaded whatever she knows and provided a watertight deposition, she should be safer. That's what I'd be doing, quicksticks.
