Watching the BBC news reporting on AI porn, it was reported that Herts police are using specific 'digital detection dogs' when searching domestic premises.

Can Zero use his appropriate skillset to suggest what they really mean?

Its a misnomer, a bit of sensationalism, the dogs have no digital device skills* at all. Its basic scent, give the dog the perps scent, and it will find anything that has been touched and hidden away by the perp, and will indicate its concealed location.

My youngster can air scent my my scent on a cloth I have touched amongst 12 other blanks from 12 metres away.

One of things I trained my old girl on was gun oil detection.

*In theory you could teach a dog to find flux as used in soldering, but digital devices are washed in a solvent post production.

But surely in a domestic environment the personal scent effect will be masked by everything else around?

by the same hand any electronic device would be masked by the owners scent.

I'm going to ask those who train the trainers how this might work, I'' have a crack at training the youngster on an sd card.

The dogs have been trained by Devon & Cornwall and Dorset police but have already been used at crime scenes across the UK. They have been used to sniff out hidden data devices such as USB sticks, SD cards and hard drives.

“Digital Media Detection Dogs are trained to locate Triphenylphosphine Oxide (TPPO), the chemical compound commonly found in coatings applied to small electronic devices such as hard drives, USB sticks, SIM and SD cards."

They could raise a fortune by hiring them out to find my 'lost' ie misplaced, memory sticks and sd cards!

That's brilliant. The really amazing thing about dogs is that they having the sniffing equivalent of the ability to hear a pin drop in the middle of a Deep Purple gig.

Ok, with a bit of training, I have managed to get my youngster to indicate a proper sd card from two other empty micro sd adaptors in a three way line up.

Went down a rabbit hole at first as I tried to ensure my scent wasnt on any of them, but figured if my scent was on all of them it didnt matter, and it was a real world task anyway. I made sure it wasnt a visual find by hiding them under boxes with holes in them
