Well
Keystone Kops day here. Some scroats hijacked a womans mini nearby (2 miles away) drove to a jewellers nearby my gaff to ramraid the place. On a busy Traffic light controlled junction, (next to the waitrose I was at this morning) Reversed into the window, security shutters came down, one bloke leapt out (wearing marigold gloves) managed to crawl under the shutter, got away with 4 rolexes, got run over by the getaway driver who reversed into him (how do we known this, it was in full view of a building site where numerous builders video'd it on their smart phones), decided the getaway route would be down a narrow road with a traffic light controlled narrow bridge with a blind bend (crashed) then over a single lane traffic light controlled canal bridge with no view over the summit (crashed). the mini limped into the park where I train my dog, upon where the mini crashed into trees. The scroats tried to escape, two were savaged by a police dog who's handler was on his way to the park to exercise his dog.
All accompanied by the police helicopter over my house and the HEMS helicopter to try and save the life of one of the scroats. The locals facebook page is full of videos of every stage of the event.

Had a ram raid at jewellers outside the office in Northampton a few years ago; police etc action kept us 'entertained' between calls for a bit.
Many years earlier a demo in Strand/Fleet St after the Deptford Fire that killed several black youngsters included a 'smash and grab' from jewellers at the end of Chancery Lane. Our bosses were very insistent we kept well away from windows even at first floor level.

Wow. Seen the vids on YouTube:

Feel for the victim of the hijacking and jeweller's staff. Must be a terrifying experience.

Police actually arrested and cuffed a young man who was nearby (he used to work with me). Was released fairly quickly though.
Not the brightest of robbers.
Police cars came searching down the industrial estate where I was working.
