I have the misfortune of having BG as my energy supplier.
3months ago my gas meter stopped communicating with my smart meter.
BG replaced the gas meter. Since then the monitor on my smart meter no longer works correctly.
I have made numerous phone calls to BG none of which has solved the problem.
On my last call I was talking to someone in Asia, they transferred me to someone in South Africa
Who didn’t sort my problem. Can anyone recommend an energy company that has call centres this country. BRITISH Gas does not

I had a problem with them in March, which went on for about four weeks, through
Their chat line. Eventually issued a complaint (find it on thr contact page) by email, which took another few days to resolve satisfactorally, by email conversation.

We're with SO energy.

They're generally OK although we had an issue early on with the smart meter not reporting correctly. They kept saying they'd sort it but nothing happened until I put a message on Trustpilot after which it was sorted lickety split.

All the people I've spoken to have been in the UK.

Octopus. Usually really good. octopus.energy/ to see what fixed tariffs you can get

Using my referral code will give you and I £50 each -

share.octopus.energy/open-camel-464

Quite a choice of tariffs too

I'm with BG for gas only. I've never had a problem or a complaint with them, and here's the secret........I don't have smart meters.

They email me for a reading, I read it and tell them. They email a bill, I pay them on line. Same with EOn for leccie.

Simples !

No more gas for us, we were able to close the account last month following the installation of a heat pump and solar panels.

I'm a bit miffed at Calor charging £270 to remove the meter, otherwise we'd have had to continue paying the standing charge. Took most of the £293 credit I'd built up over the summer.
