I quite like a warm liner in my wellies. But the last couple of pairs, which were just £30 type things from the garden centre, last about six months before the liners detach from the toe of boot.
When you take the boot off, the liner gets pulled out too. But because it's still firmly fixed at the top, the only way of getting it back in place is by pushing it back with your foot all the way to the toe. So you do that, and now it's all wrinkly under your heel, and then you take the boot off and the liner comes out again...
So. More expensive better made boots needed? Don't have a fluffy cuddly liner at all? Buy a separate liner of some sort?
Any ideas?

I buy the ones with the dry suit type liner in them. Lasted for years. I'll have a look at the brand. They were about 50 quid online years ago. Probably 100 quid now?

No liner but I wear thick socks that are further up my calf then the top of the boot.
Mind you apart from when pressure washing the terrace I can't remember when I last wore wellies.

Well, The Third Man is ok, but I'm not convinced about Citizen Kane either.

I hate them as well. I can't remember last wearing mine. When I pressure wash I never aim the jet at myself anyway.
The boots sit in the workshop for months and I'm always afraid some grollie will be living in one and attack my foot. When I did wear them now and again, my socks always came off as I moved around,
I find ' moving around ' not to be a good policy these days !

I use these with thick socks. I had some foam insoles that insulated them a bit but I took them out to dry and mislaid them.

There are versions without the steel toe etc but I like the safety version, I've had a nail through a welly sole in the past.
Never tried expensive wellies. But used to have some Argyll (now Hunter branded) rubber ones which had traditional appeal but they soon leaked and they were the ones that got a nail through. Couldn't believe the price last time I saw them, over £80 I think. I'm sure I didn't pay that.

Yes, you dont have liners in Wellies, you have proper socks. I also have a pair of leather du barry type leather boots, which when properly treated knock the spots off wellies.

Very practical man the Duke of Wellington. His essential advice to new officers was "Piddle when you can" (paraphrased), a maxim I always follow.
