Just seen that. Suggestion in news reports based on FR24 or similar is that damage was done by descending 6,000 feet in 3 minutes!!

Think it was the first 33 feet in one second that caused the damage!

I don't fly anywhere near as often anymore, but yes, always kept the seatbelt on when not standing or walking for exercise on a long haul.

That, exactly. Two thousand feet a minute is pretty standard for a/c over here at top of descent for Manchester.

Only experienced the 'big dipper' thing once on a Saab 340 between Stornoway and Glasgow. At a guess some sort of effect with wind/mountains as we crossed the coast of the Scottish mainland.

Cabin crew didn't half stow the drinks trolley quickly!!

Keep my belt fastened on same basis as Zippy.

Always keep the belt on when flying.

Worst single drop I experienced somewhere between Beijing snd Shanghai on an Air China Flight....stewardesses and their trolley nearly hit the roof...

Most extended was returning from Tunisia to Gatwick through a thunderstorm, very bumpy indeed and a very quiet cabin.

Few bits of turbulence in my time.

Funniest was in one of those short haul BAE-146 jets from Jersey to Gatwick in the early 2000s.

Master Z was about 4 and Miss Z about 8.

There was some buffeting then all of a sudden the aircraft dropped like a stone.

The look on the kids faces was one of amazement - it was a free roller coaster ride for them! I can still see their wide smiles hear their giggles.

We got the kids one of those big gorilla toys from Jersey Zoo and he was stored in the overhead locker and popped out - much to their joy.

The gorilla is still taken to where-ever Miss Z calls home.

Reminds me of returning from France c1974 on a Hoverlloyd SRN4 when my sis and I were in our early teens. A bit rough. First few minutes people were doing the 'wheeee' stuff, by the time we hit the mud in Pegwell Bay I was very close to getting my lunch back.

Passengers on the ceiling reminded me of this, pretty much 4500k ft in 30 sec.
