That's both of them gone.

If it's going to be played over and over at Christmas as a tribute please can we have the version with the proper words.

Can we please not have it at all.

Don’t hear it much in ( proper) Spanish bars in the interior. Thank goodness.

They were going get kids to do it for the Xmas concert at the youth music place where Mrs B volunteers on a Saturday. They didn't after a stushie between staff members over whether 14 year olds could sing about faggots...

I love it.

There's humour, emotion, strings and whistles and a proper Gaelic rhythm.

It'd be a funny old world if we all liked the same stuff.

I find that one a bit bland, personally. Though Dirty Old Town is probably one of the most covered songs of all time so there's room for all tastes. Doesn't sound bad on a Ukulele either -

Back in the late 80s my brother and I used to do DJing at functions, weddings etc.
used to trail around boxes and boxes of albums in the back of his Maestro with the decks and speakers.
Nowadays they just turn up with a laptop and USB drive!

Anyway there was a pub in Coatbridge that we got a regular Saturday night gig in and every Saturday without fail, we had to play Dirty Old Town. I remember once joking with a guy that we didn’t have it this week and he stood up with his solid ashtray from the table, filled with dowts and ash and told me that unless it got played, both me and the turntables were getting hit with this ashtray.

I played it.

PLease...

That said I'd forgotten Brains Faggots. One of us used to do them for dinner in a shared house I was in c1983. Quite nice actually. Canned?

I've only had the ones in a foil tray. £1.19 for 6 in Tesco.
