I have mentioned on the forum before about a friend that has become very unwell and can no longer work.
Mobility problems are building up and they have had a few falls recently.

Unfortunately if there is a strike he remains on the floor for hours. Lifting bodily is not possible because of pain.
Does any one know of any similar devices for £200 to £400 please as the ones in the example are outside their budget?

To be fair, your friend would remain on the floor for hours - strike or no strike. The majority of no injury falls are categorised as category 3 and therefore go to the bottom of a very long queue. Some services have falls cars or lifting services.

Yeah, this is key. If the severity and frequency of falls is increasing, a complete review of care and living arrangements may be required.

I agree re assessment of needs ongoing but at the moment he wants to spend as much time with his loved ones as possible.

My 91 year old mum still (insistently) lives at home alone, in Edinburgh. She gets two free assistance visits a day. Falls are still a concern but the support from social care has been good.
She has a buzzer to a call centre and they call out my brother if she falls. If he is not available they call the fall support team. This is a full time specialised team with all the gear to get her back on her feet. They have been out a couple of times and there is no charge.
This support may not be available elsewhere but it’s worth a call to the care authorities or charities to see what is available.
In line with mum’s wishes and agreed with her doctor, we have kept her in her home as long as possible. Once she was assessed support has been surprisingly good. We are however researching local care homes as her falls become more frequent.
