Has to be eggs. Supermarkets are rationing sales. Avian flu responsible apparentlly. None in Aldi this morning.

Stangely in USA and Canada it's lettuces. Californian lettuce crop decimated by virus apparently. My daughter tells me they are now retailing for $8 upwards each and have disappeared from burgers

Last week SWMBO ordered two dozen eggs from Tesco by mistake, they all turned up!

Can you hoard eggs?

Mr Creamline drops two 6 packs off a week with the milk. I'm going to have to find some sort of security for the doorstep.

Can't say I'm very keen on them, scrambled with grated cheese in....just passable for me.

I have been told that they can be frozen.

Eggs are one of my favourite foods, boiled, scrambled, poached, omelettes, fried etc. etc.

I'll be miffed if I can't get em!

Great value eggs, when I was a kid there were twelve eggs in a dozen and there still are today.

They can, but dont quite taste the same or behave the same when cooked in your preferred way.

My source of really free range Norfuk eggs has dried to a trickle as the DEFRA man has ordered them inside and they have gone broody in protest.

I believe so but you have to crack them open first, i don't think you can freeze them in their shells, well you're not supposed to anyway.

In a bucket filled with water glass

Solution is dried egg powder which I believe is readily available with a long shelf life.

Probably tastes fairly disgusting scrambled, may be ok in an omelette, can't replicate boiled, probably good in cakes.

The mere announcement of a shortage means that a shortage is guaranteed a la toilet rolls.

Well, of course...

Eggs in stock but not on display at the village shop this morning. Limited to half a dozen per customer.

It had a feeling of Corporal Jones furtively handing over the off-ration pork chop from under the counter.

Just back from Aldi, seemed to have plenty there, which surprised me this late on a Saturday.

They’re shocked and bewildered by the egg shortage in Manchester.

Story I read today suggested a box of 6 karge free range eggs has gone up 40/45p this year.
It also stated the farmer had seen between 5p & 10p increase in his prices!

...the difference has ended up in a shell company.....

That's an appalling yoke.
This week's panic buy - tyrednemotional

Boxes, or eggs?

Eggs

I don't think this will pan out like the bog rolls. One can't really stockpile 6 months supply of eggs.
This week's panic buy - Biggles
According to the web, an egg can support a load of 3,000 lbs, so there shouldn't be a problem stockpiling them.

Every time I passed the Battersea Power Station on the train, I used to wonder how tall you could build a chimney before the bottom brick would crush under the weight.

And then Adam Hart-Davis had the answer on one of his programs - about a mile. And no limit for steel.

Well there was a scramble to buy eggs at Waitrose today. The mrs poached some from another trolley so it turned out all white.

I think we're over-egging the pudding here.

I agree Clk, they should all be whisked off to Pun Penitentiary.

This week's panic buy - tyrednemotional
...let's face it; making puns about eggs is somewhat over-easy...

You can't beat two eggs over-easy.

We're pretty lucky here in the City. Kid down the lanes runs a small scale egg selling business (£1.00 for 6)...really nice.
