Tony Curtis RIP - Robin O'Reliant
Tony Curtis died today, aged 85. He is memorable for making one of the best quotes of all time -

"I wouldn't be seen dead with a woman who is old enough to be my wife".

Classic.
 Tony Curtis RIP - R.P.
Listened to some excellent stuff on R4's Front Row - cracking interview with one of his close friends, Ronnie Wood, who claimed to teach him to draw (in both senses of the word allegedly) and also drank his wine cellar. BBC at their very best tonight in respect to Curtis - Never took to him myself...

Always remember him in the Vikings...

Now there was a good film.

He was in The Persuaders, which gave us one of the best TV theme tunes of all time:

Absolute and complete twaddle, never heard so much rubbish.

These are good theme tunes:

The sweeney
UFO
Space 1999
Hawaii 5-0

but most of all - this (ok a sub theme but still the very best)

oh and Aqua Maria - was TC Troy Tempest or was that a wooden actor ?
 Tony Curtis RIP - Zero
Troy Tempest was modelled on James Garner... Both Looks and acting skills.

IIRC they used more than one tune for that during the show's lifetime.

Obviously I should ignore everything you say as you haven't included The Tomorrow People:

or Blake's 7:

I heard a bit of Pamela Stevenson's 'psychiatrist' interview with TC on radio 4 last night - I believe the whole thing is on iPlayer. Apparently when he was 12 his 9 year old brother was run over and killed, and Tony blamed himself as he wouldn't let him play with him. He said it was because of that he subsequently always made an effort to be nice to people.

Yep good stuff, especially - now I recalled that the closing theme to be some woman singing "in the alleyways and avenues" etc - am I wrong ? I really wanted that Aston but the Ferrari did nothing for me - still the same.

Alas, yes you are.

That's the theme from The Protectors.

Ah yes..

Oh, and the "woman" singing, was Tony Christie.

Apart from that you had it spot on.

Memory playing up, mind you I was only about six. :-)

That Aston was not quite what it seemed.......

It was supposed to be a DBS-V8 it was in fact just a DBS.....

I know that for a fact, because I was told by the factory, I was lucky enough to go round the factory in my mid teens.... I saw the last of the Lagonda's before the wedge was announced, in fact I think I saw the wedge... but it was covered by sheets!

right..quiz time - what are the visible differences that show Roger's Aston was not the V8?

 Tony Curtis RIP - Iffy
I wonder if Curtis had such a brilliant career?

All we've come up with so far is a slightly barmy TV series.

Some Like it Hot is one of my favourite films.

Curtis was brilliant in that, as was Jack Lemon and Marilyn Monroe.

They worked so well together, it was a case of the whole adding up to more than the sum of its parts.
 Tony Curtis RIP - L'escargot
In the 1950s I had a Tony Curtis (complete with DA) hairstyle, held in place with the mandatory Brylcreem.

Tony Curtis RIP - Armel Coussine
Always managed to seem sympathetic despite the gigolo looks and turnout.

We all love Some Like it Hot but played hundreds of roles, many in very carp films. I remember him as a star acrobat in The Greatest Show on Earth, for example. Mainly because of his character's powder-blue (I think) Jag XK120 roadster.
