Just to let you all know. (or for the technically minded...)
A few minutes ago we just installed a light-weight reverse proxy caching server on the front end of our main web server. Basically this now serves up all the static content on this and our other sites and caches whatever it can cache. The latest forum post panel is now cached for a couple of minutes and so will only show changes up to that time old.
The effect has been to reduce the loading on our main apache web server enormously which means that everything should go very much quicker.
We will of course be doing your long-overdue drives shortly. Just a load of other stuff to finish.
There is also a load to tidy up here first. Can't work while there is messy stuff around kind of thing.

I understood everything up to that point. :-)
Thanks for continuing to fund our ramblings anyway.

I know someone who disapeared up his own lightweight reverse proxy caching server once.

I hope you didn't do it today. Rule 2 - never make changes on a Friday.
Hang on, It's Thursday. Oops :-)

Edit is a wonderful thing! I like the way you said "isn't it though". It shows someone who is not intransigent, flexible, open to new ideas.
I just hope this lot never gets analysed by anyone. Aspergers would be the least of it!

It's been Friday all day for me too. I bought enough bread for the weekend and promised the kids an ice cream in the cafe tomorrow morning.
|
Well it's been a good Friday so I'm going to enjoy it all over again tomorrow!

It's definitely been 'Friday' for me today - I finished work at 1230 for a four day long weekend and we're off to the northern Lakes tomorrow. Woo-hoo!

Be careful when you step into the shower.

I just don't want someone else to have to suffer the trauma I had to.
|
Thought you liked the lakes? Looking foward to taking my Panda up there sometime but for now the country twisted lanes of Cheshire will have to do.
|
Glad to see thread drift is alive and well whilst I've been away...!

Been away? Where to?
Ooops, sorry.

Anyone know if PU ever came over from the old place?
Kevin...

>No - he didn't.
Oh well, there goes my theory that he'd changed his moniker to Zero or BBD.

Kevin, let me know what you are smokin, seems like good schiesse Man!

>Kevin, let me know what you are smokin, seems like good schiesse Man!
It was a poor, nay pathetic, attempt to tease PU a bit. I'd run out of smilies and couldn't be bothered to download new ones.
I'm surprised that you think I could confuse PU's confrontational style with your, and BBD's, delicately subtle musings ;-)

Noooo Way
Ask BBD, he's the one who does line dancing.
Or was it pole dancing?
|
Brings Billy Ray Cyrus to mind for some reason. Complete with a mullet.
