American Airlines 777 Supposedly bound for Chicago as AA87 is currently orbiting over your neck if the woods.
Fuel being burned or dumped?

Flightradar indicates returning to LHR.

I love that app after you guys mentioned it....
Being at Biggin Hill I often pick up the big planes using the main beacon here as they head over across into/out of Europe.
One of interest is that there is a twin-engined plane that comes out of Southend and heads to the coast just off of Dover and then does ten's of long oval laps up and down the channel at about 23.30, I guess it's patrolling although it doesn't say if it's privately owned.

Not noticed that. Could be fishery protection. There's a largish drone used for Dinghy spotting but that's usually based at Lydd Ferryfield.
Surveying/mapping is another reason for that sort of flightpath.

was out and about couldn't smell it* so not been dumped
*if you have been within about 8 miles of a plane dumping fuel - you'll notice!

Whatever the issue with AAL87 was it's now in the air again heading across Wales to its Oceanic Entry Point.
|
...no change of aircraft, so a quick return to LHR for a check, or a medical emergency?
|
ME I reckon, dump them off, leave the luggage on board and FO
|
...or the pilot had left his Christmas presents behind.....
|
Left his glasses behind at the pre christmas drinks party?
|
Seems to be back in the air, so I hope it didn’t dump too much fuel… ;)
