 Multimeter question - Rudedog
I have a much underused multimeter that I want to check a few 13amp fuses I had in a kitchen drawer to see if they were ok... what setting do I put it on?

If it's got it, use the "continuity check" position.

Units with this (it's pretty common) sound a buzzer when there is continuity, and will show a switch position symbol of "sound waves" (and the position is usually next to the resistance settings).

(And probes in the common and resistance slots).

Cheers, I think I was doing it right but it's been a while.

Just touch the two probes together on, say, the 2K ohm scale and you should get full scale deflection. Do the same with a probe on either end of a fuse and you get the same result for a good fuse.

Edit. Assuming it's analogue. If it's digital you should get a reading of zero on the LCD.

I get confused with all the settings on multimeters. I need a monometer as all I ever want to check is continuity. Does anyone know of such a device? I would prefer one to run on AA or AAA batteries.

Out of stock everywhere, not available for delivery and it says only for 5v - 12v

Other than that, great find!! :-)

EDIT: I suppose the voltage doesn't matter really so I retract half of my comment :-)
